I take pride in never having been there in the first place. Hell I’ve even avoided any links that would take me there.

Because, like it or not, it is the main place. Government entities from all over the world sit there, not on Mastodon.

Also, I’m not entirely certain that abandoning the clueless “average users” to the full extent of far-right propaganda without even a chance for corrections is the best approach, not when Twitter is still one of, if not the, most popular social network.

Honestly, anyone who still uses Twitter after the recent news has demonstrated that they are OK with CSAM, and should be treated as such.

        Inauthentic behaviors

WTF. From the site “help” page:

Inauthentic behaviors refer to actions that are not genuine or true, often involving deception or manipulation to create a false impression. This can include pretending to be someone else, using fake identities, or engaging in activities that misrepresent one’s true self or intentions.

So… you post a dissenting point of view and they moderate you by saying “you couldn’t possibly mean that, you big faker.”

I’d rather just be banned. This is somehow more insulting.

Inauthentic behavior just means “speech we don’t like” aka something that’s not nazi shit or pedo shit.

Pretty sure it isn’t. Some accounts that don’t post or comment still get unexplained locks & “inauthentic behavior” bans.

It still seems like a lot of bands, brands, sports clubs, even governments haven’t left, so people who want to see info from them still stick around. It’s pretty ridiculous when your official fire department social media account is on the same site producing deepfakes of nude or nearly nude kids.

That, and people believe FUD, which is usually in the form of overreporting on toxic callouts - yes, I had to block some anti-AI people and their blocklists, but Twitter is still way worse.

Other is that people believe too much in the power of “market demand magic”. Remember all those elitist gamers who only want games to be made to the most hardcore ones, who in turn harass women and minorities? It’s not just them who are like that. Even progressive Harry Potter fans are still deluding themselves that if they stop funding Johanne Karen Rowling’s TERF war chest, she will suddenly become way worse.

Yet others complain that Bluesky and Mastodon are not as addictive as Xitter. It’s like claiming salad is bad for you, because it doesn’t provide cocaine-like addiction.

I know a Twitter user. He stays there for the genAI news and discussions. He tried using BlueSky, but all the AI bros got bullied off it
