I’m not trying to protect lenovo. I think they are a shit company now, and I should have some my research better before buying my computer, but they aren’t the only ones doing this. Anyone who’s done BIOS updates knows that shouldn’t be done automatically, but manufacturers and Microsoft seem to think it’s a good idea to push it through automatic updates.
I had windows update try to brick the BIOS on my Lenovo workstation recently. I can’t believe Microsoft and manufacturers do this kind of shit. Luckily my workstation had dual BIOS so I could recover it. Between that and the fact that lenovo manufacturer locks their processors I would have waited until I could afford a supermicro had I known.
That shows how good they were at rehabilitating their image. How did those “philanthropists” get the money to build the libraries?

Installing any OS is not for everyday users. Most people wouldn’t have any idea how to install windows either. Whoever is setting up the computer should take care of all of that to begin with. I’ve set up multiple computers for older family members with SUSE and they are all happy with them, and I get almost no tech support calls. The one exception is printing, but you get that with anything because printing sucks. It’s really to my advantage with my step father’s computer because he has negative computer knowledge. He was one of those people who had a million add on bars in IE because he’d click the accept button on every shady website he visited.
The recent update on my Motorola made sure to tell me how awesome it is that it has per app volume control. My Nokia N9 was made in 2011 and had individual application volume control out of the box.

See there’s the problem right there. They shouldn’t have sold the robot. It should have been a subscription model, with micro transactions. That would have kept the investors flocking in.
I’d like to say this is sarcasm, but unfortunately it’s the most likely lesson these ghouls will learn from this.
You don’t have to be a criminal mastermind to not go to mcDs a week after you committed a crime, with all of the evidence needed to put you away. This is either a setup or he intended to be caught.

I appreciate that people love to gargle tech Bros, but the truth of the matter is what they were most lucky with was having access to the capital necessary to bring those ideas to market. Do you think Steve Jobs or Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning were the only ones to have the idea to put those technologies together? They were just the ones lucky enough to have the means to do it.
Funny you should mention iPhone, because it was the same thing. Yes the whole package didn’t exist in that form, but all the parts were already in use. They both got lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.
Lithium batteries hadn’t been used before because the technology had just reached the point where they were viable for use in a vehicle. Electric motor technology had also just reached the price to performance to size necessary to make a sporty vehicle. The original Tesla was unique for it’s time, but not because of some genius design. They were just lucky enough to be doing it at a time when others tech was reaching the punt that made it possible.
And the majority of that is the auto industry’s fault.
Tesla didn’t even do anything new. They put the right product to market at the right time.
