two back-to-back W.A.F.R.N. posts by the same user that read "rent lowering nsfw boosts" and "gotta keed the tech bros at bay"

I see the tumblr culture is already present, congrats! Although I never personally used tumblr, my understanding is that more than features or functionality it was very much the culture that its users cultivated that made that site special.

For me, Tumblr was an online culture different from the ADHD of other journaling/blogging platforms like Instagram or Twitter. You could find conversations in tags, gifs didn’t lag my browser to hell, fan content was proliferous there, webpages could be personalized to the lengths you might’ve gone to in MySpace. It was the place to find fandoms and fandom content, even for the most obscure series. There were no ads. And I felt like gifs/texts of porn and kinks were made more accessible when searched for by tags.

There was no algorithm - discovery of new blogs was just subscribing to tags & maybe following who your followed-people followed, the way the fediverse kinda is.

I felt like the presentation was good to relish each post of content with less distraction, and the pagination + scroll browsing was just enough to keep me addicted.

Someone correct me if I’m remembering it wrong.

      RIP 2011 Tumblr

Fantastic idea! I miss Tumblr terribly ever since the Great Porn Ban of 2018, even though I never even reblogged or followed ‘adult’ blogs. I just wanted to reblog holsum and funny fanart, but fuck giving into puritan corpo censorship.

What’s the moderation policy on genocide denial and the like? I hate having to ask this, but having heard too many people deny the Holodomor on here, I feel it necessary to make the inquiry.

For that matter, more generally, are you prepared, in terms of moderation structure, for the massive amount of legitimately disturbing material that’s going to pass through the site and will need to be removed if the site grows beyond a few hundred users? I would hate to join and then see this crash because of (completely understandable) moderator/admin burnout at the depravity and speed of mankind’s worst elements.

One of the biggest issues with fediverse platforms is poor presentation. This is another good example of that.

My god cat with disturbingly human lips, the internet is back.

Seriously, I love it. Correct amount of humor and functionality. I’m on the road but I’ll be signing up for sure.

Some certainly do. I’ve never been much of a podcast person myself. The closest I follow is the Cody Showdy AKA some more news. but it’s a bit more Straight Up Performance than just basic podcast.

I do watch a lot of tech YouTubers. And have done some shows myself. I know the amount of time and effort that can go even into simple ones. They require a lot of passion and drive to produce. And especially for topics like this where there isn’t a lot of money in it. It’s definitely deserves some respect.

I know I’ve been considering Reviving an old program myself. If it’s worth all the work again.

Oh I absolutely do it for passion. LOVE talking with folks, especially about foss and open platforms. And definitely haven’t made really any money. And any money goes to TubeFree or back to the Fediverse somehow. I’ve definitely spent way more than I’ve made. Lol

That’s how it was DJing for me. I never made a lot of money. But I always enjoyed sharing the music. LOL, perhaps someday I will find someone to pay me to do it. But not everyone can be as lucky as Rodney anonymous. Of course it doesn’t hurt that he was famous as well:-)

          TY for linking. :-)

Asking for constructive criticism reasons, is there a reason you don’t watch or listen? I’ve been told my mic quality bothers folk, so working on getting a new setup for that this week hopefully. :-D If you just don’t listen because you’re not a consumer of that kind of content or just not interested, totally understand. I just thriving on constructive criticism. :-)

You don’t always need an expensive microphone. But a pop filter can make a much bigger impact than you would believe. Honestly the thing I see a lot of YouTubers using often that seems to work out quite well are lavalier mics. Not the traditional desktop microphones.

A lavalier microphone attached to a collar or lapel. Is generally outside of the direct path of your voice. So the need for pop filtering Etc is reduced. Though many of them do provide filters for it. Further since they are generally clipped to you the distance between you and them doesn’t change much. Meaning that your levels stay much more consistent and even. No leaning away from mic and then back in. And they sometimes have a few less issues with assonance.

That’s not even touching the headaches that can be simply capturing footage or streaming in obs. That rabbit hole goes deep. It’s also a lot of fun with a lot of opportunity to be creative.

And as I said in my other post I just don’t tend to listen to many podcasts at all. I have listened to behind the bastards a little bit in the past, Pod save America a couple times. Even the Retro hour a few times with RMC. But it’s just never been something that I have a lot of time available to focus on or desire to. Though I might give it a try.

Well, tumblr died out in 2017 because they said “NO PORN!!!”

    And all the blogs died.

It’s like Dr Cox said: “If you take all the porn off the internet, there’d only be one website left. www.bringbacktheporn.com and nobody would visit because it doesn’t have porn.”

So. Does WAFRN have porn? And also…why are these things ALWAYS named with weird hard to pronounce names? Come see my new website Drufyflezak!

I always figured because the weird names have cheaper domain registrations. However wafrn is a pretty short name so, it probably is on the high end.
