WASHINGTON >> Bipartisan Senate talks aimed at reining in President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown appeared to sputter on Thursday before they had even started, raising the risk of a shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security in a little over a week.
FEMA just paid Florida $600 million to ‘reimburse’ them for Alligator Alcatraz while refusing to give $47 million in aid to Colorado after they suffered flooding and wildfires.
At least now it will be shutdown for Republican run states as well. My understanding is that it has been doled out politically by the Trump administration.
Sounds good. Nothing of value will be lost without DHS funding. NOTHING.
FEMA is pretty useful when it functions well. Some of the other stuff, not so much
FEMA WAS useful. What good are they if Trump denies emergency declarations on a whim? They’ll just use the funds and manpower to help ICE.
Yeah, I said when it functions well

Note that this doesn’t impact ICE, as they were so special they already got massive funding independent of this discussion.
Hence why the GOP doesn’t care that much.
