Officials in Texas are casting blame on the National Weather Service (NWS) for failing to forecast catastrophic flooding that has killed at least 27 people. NWS was among the government agencies targeted by the Department of Government Efficiency in its effort to gut the federal bureaucracy, losing approximately 600 staffers. After the cuts, the agency—which was already understaffed—began to prepare to offer “degraded” forecasting services, facing “severe shortages” of meteorologists, according

If you get mad at the hypocrisy, you’re letting him win. He uses it like a weapon to make people angry. It always works. Don’t let it.

And it is god almighty that we need

No you fucking idiots, its funding to the people that could have done something about it.
I went through the entire transcript of that video and there were zero mentions of the lack of funding or manpower of the NWS.

AccuWeather just uses the NWS data. They’d be lost without it.

It’s a feature, not a bug. Cut back on effective preparation and response programs so the TV preacher can sell overpriced food buckets to any remaining faithful they haven’t already bled dry.

It’s getting harder and harder to show empathy for these people. The Shitgibbon is delivering everything he promised to deliver. He doesn’t care about anyone, his voters included. The leopards are feasting, and these idiots have no one to blame but themselves. But man…those girls? They didn’t vote for anyone. And now they’re dead or wish they were dead. And that ain’t great.

Save the attempt at guilt for the tears of the living, not the potential of the lost. The focus should be on those accountable, not the people who bear a burden no longer.

TIL flash floods selectively target Trump voters. Or are we doing collective guilt now? Fuck them dead kids, am I right?

Well, the dismantling of the NOAA, the lack of local regulations on construction and zoning, the lack of land management policies, the lack of education and preparedness all seem to disproportionately affect Republican voting communities. This is a failure of the blueprint.

Sure, go ahead and put words in my mouth. Ad hominem is always in fashion. Those kids would be alive if their parents and communities did their job as part of a society or civilization.

An ad hominem would be if I said something like ‘nobody should listen to this guy because he’s a sociopath,’ it’s not just a retort for when anyone makes any uncharitable characterization of your argument. (It’s also not even evidence that an argument is invalid, that’s called the fallacy fallacy)

Which, if you want to accuse me of committing an ad hominem by characterizing your argument as ‘fuck them kids,’ you might not want to immediately go straight to how they deserved it for living in a red state.
