I have been in tech for 30 years (yikes!) and hiring people for the vast majority of that time. Salary, culture, and responsibilities are definitely things you should ask during the interview. In fact, not bringing responsibilities or culture up during the interview process is a huge red flag. Salary and compensation are more for the offer negotiation phase, but you should at least ask about the salary range they have in mind to make sure you aren’t wasting their time or your time.
I’m getting to the point where when I don’t see the salary posted on the job ad then I assume that they are trying to hide low pay. Even in my state where it isn’t required most positions still have a range posted.
