Idk, I’m willing to give the guy the benefit of the doubt because, despite the bullshit with Microsoft, he did some great charity work and raised his children well, which hints at some decency if it wasn’t his wife pushing him into it. There’s also reason to believe that some people will be named who were not guilty, but that’s only while nothing comes of the files or anything of the sort, because otherwise he squashes like a bug.

His charities are a tax evasion tool that happen to be helpful at some level.

And if he was half as honest, he wouldn’t have waited for the proof to be out there before admitting what he did.

What I suspect now is there might be more, but it hasn’t been released, so he won’t mentioned it.

And about his decency: he abused Microsoft leading position to enact all kinds of dirty and shady tricks. MS lost quite some lawsuits because of that, but he knew very well whatever downfall would happen way too late to fix things.

That’s not how taxes and charity works.

If you spend $100 minutes on charity and “write it off”, that saves you $30 on taxes. You’re still down $70.

(You only can claim itemized deductions if you have more than, roughly $12k of them, 24k if you’re married.)

His so-called charity work is extremely suspect and I would highly suggest you investigate further before giving him too many kudos. Also I’m not sure why you’ve given him the benefit of the doubt considering he’s lied about this before. Absolutely no reason to think he isn’t lying again now.

I’m sorry, how is that giving him “too many kudos” rather than recognition of his work? And the main topic I’m arguing is giving him the benefit of the doubt of whether he’s a pedophile until evidence comes out.

            🤔

Oh but fuck me for defending my point when some of you miss the plot, right. Typical.

I’m honestly not sure why you’re crashing out. You made multiple points: A) building up a case defending his character, which is what was directly challenged and B) that we should reserve judgements of recent accusations until we have real evidence.

By all means, I agree that such accusations should not be taken as fact without evidence, but he is also in fact a piece of shit if you look into his history.

Regardless, I’m not your mother, so feel free to continue crashing out and calling people names. You could, of course, always agree to disagree with others 🤷‍♀️

Crashing out? Can we call things what they are for once or is that too hard? Lol I’m defending my position and complaining that you are taking it beyond what it is, so let’s call it that.

I did not “build up a case to defend his character”, but gave points on what I think are points in his favor because I’m reserving judgement because I’m clearly speaking in the first person. Duh.

So, please, have several seats. Tbh, I’ve seen better attempts at trying to spin my shit by other classic Lemmy mean girls like you. 🤷‍♂️

I’m not “giving him too many kudos” any more than I’m not saying he’s guilty of being a pedophile until there’s proof. I’m not sure why Lemmy insists on reading more into what I’m saying than what I’m really saying every time.
