I’m milking it for SEO until I get kicked off. It’s been a shitshow since the pandemic. Probably had 10+ accounts banned for having an unpopular opinion, I wear that with pride.
And I’m compelled to tell them to suck my ass.
I’m permaband from Reddit but I miss some local subs. I hope this encourages people to move away to something else.

How do they permaban you? By IP address? I can’t see how they could verify a new user being the same person as a old one. Email address is trivial to get around too.
I got permabanned a while ago. In the time since, I’ve moved to a new country and gotten all new devices. Made a new account with a new email address to try to join local subs in the new area.
That account was banned a couple hours later for ban evasion. I had made zero comments or posts and hadn’t joined any of my old subs. After that, I assumed they just have an AI that auto bans a chunk of new accounts “just in case”, because I genuinely have no idea what they could have done to connect the two accounts to each other.
They use several metrics to fingerprint you supposedly. I’m sure there’s a work around but I’m too fucking lazy for that when it comes to socials.

While germany has strict laws against using Nazi iconography, there are a lot of exceptions that allow them in satire, arts, etc.
Couple of years back they even allowed swastikas in video games because the law recognised them as art.

These large scale surveillance companies like Palantir, like Flock, they shouldn’t exist. They should be outlawed. Our government needs probable cause and a warrant to surveil a suspect. If a normal civilian followed you around and filmed you, kept track of you at all times, they’d be arrested for stalking. But for some reason private companies can just watch every man, woman, and child in public and online, catalog all our movements, where we went, how we went there, who was with us, track what we do, what we read, who we know, how we spend our time, what we say, etc., and then permanently log all of that, use it to form dociers on us, predict our behaviors, or desires, ways to manipulate us, and then turn around and sell that data to governments, other companies and private parties. How the fuck is that legal.
Why in the fuck would you ever allow a private, profit-driven company to have that kind of power over your nation, let alone reward it with federal dollars, long term contracts and access to our law enforcement and military data and systems?
Worse, the founders and CEO are unhinged wannabe dictators trying to form their own sovereign techno-states. They’re not even secretive about that. And our goverment is fucking funding these nuts and giving them every detail of the lives of our citizenry, our goverment officials, our military… how fucking stupid do we have to be, guys? I’m watching Gladiator tonight for the first time in 20 years. It’s hardly new but so painful to watch again through the lens of the current state of America. It went from ominous historical warning 25 years ago of power, weakness and how men act in opportune moments to a primer on current affairs.
I never really saw it as an allegory for fascism, but that’s an interesting take.

Many don’t have the capacity left to make conscious decisions about these things - either they are already living paycheck to paycheck or it is too abstract for them to realize it might bite them and everyone else on a future date. Even if i have ideas for the first group that I have no power to make reality, I don’t have a solution for the second group either.
