Five firearm instructors in the Minneapolis area said sign-ups for safety training, which is required for permit holders, have grown in the past two weeks.

At the Stock & Barrel Gun Club’s two locations near Minneapolis, the classes for people seeking a permit to carry a firearm almost always draw large crowds.

“It’s usually in the hundreds,” David Taylor, the club’s CEO, said.

But since immigration enforcement agents flooded the city, sparking clashes in the streets and the killing of two protesters, interest in the classes has only grown. In just the past two weeks, Taylor said, his club has received four times the usual number of sign-ups.

That does not appear to be an anomaly. Five firearm instructors in the Minneapolis area told NBC News they have seen a similar trend. The sudden interest, they say, is a reflection of the fear and uneasiness that has gripped the region amid the ongoing turmoil in the streets.

If you are going to carry, please for the love, get training. And at this point I’d say avoid the Sig P320 entirely. There’s a non-zero chance that dude got clapped partially because his CCW piece discharged while the cop was carrying it away, and the other guys overreacted to hearing a shot.

    COPY/PASTA

In the US we have the Second Amendment. The fascists have been the ones screaming and yelling about the Second Amendment, but the truth is that all Americans have the right.

Owning a gun isn’t enough. Driving to Cabela’s and picking up a vermin killing .22 is not enough. You should buy a proper rifle, a pistol, and a knife or baton. (Bonus points for a shotgun) Then you need to train with said rifle, pistol and knife/baton. Go to a range and shoot. Look for local self defense/hand to hand combat with a weapon classes and train.

I am not advocating for violence…far from it. But I am advocating for knowledge because owning a weapon and not knowing how to use it is a recipe for disaster.

PS: If you can afford it, buy suppressors or active hearing protection. Especially for your rifles. Suppression for the common citizen isn’t about stealth like in the movies, it is about protecting your hearing. Guns are LOUD. Much louder than you expect. At the bare minimum, make sure you have quality active hearing protection.

I post this everywhere lately, you need to know your laws and rights.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_laws_in_the_United_States_by_state

We spent a lot of time demanding better gun control because the right was screaming that they shouldn’t be restricted because of some fantasy about “fascist government takeover” for decades and decades.

Well, here we are. They’re easier to get than ever and THEY are the ones supporting the fascist takeover that is actually now happening. Irony hath come full circle, so arm up brothers and sisters. Pray you never need to use the things, but abandoning a force-multiplier and giving up weapons NOW of all times is about the weakest thing you can do.

We need power. Power comes from force, even if just implied.

Any regime is going to think long and hard about doing anything that would result in a decades-long door-to-door meat-grinder operation just because they get hung up on a narrative that trans, gay or brown people are now a threat to our comforts.

Once you are ready and brushed up on your laws, gunbroker.com is a great site that lets you shop for something in your price range, then the weapon is delivered to a local gun store of your choosing. (call them first, there will likely be a small fee, but otherwise find out what you need to bring to pick it up.)

For inexperienced owners, I highly recommend revolvers or pump-action shotguns. Low maintenance, easy to operate, reliable. Do take some range time when you can so you’re prepared for things like recoil and noise. Always wear hearing protection when practicing, safety glasses are good too. Never point a gun at anything you don’t want to kill and keep your finger off the trigger. Always assume it’s loaded and ready to fire even if you double-checked it. If you do shoot at targets or threats, be aware what’s behind them and identify your target as an active threat to your life before pulling the trigger. These rules are inflexible.

So instead of scaring citizens into complying, it inspired them to become MORE armed.

I’ve been saying it from the beginning: Ultimately, MAGA will be brought down by their own virtuosic incompetence.

I am one of these people! I actually just did my permit qualification at the gun range listed in the article - stock & barrel. Submitted my application yesterday morning. Now I wait up to 30 days to get the permit. Then I’m thinking of buying a Glock or Shadow systems Glock-style pistol. 🔫

This is good. But remember, it’ll take months of practice and carrying to feel comfortable with a firearm. Not expert, maybe not even very good, but only sufficiently competent.

Start now if you think you might need to pull the trigger in a year.

Good. Remember when you see ICE, get out your ICE scraper, and scrape it off. Wear a mask. Don’t film it. Flee. Burn your clothes.

All that work to get ICE off your windshield will pay off when you’re ICE free.

I’m not saying that people shouldn’t do this, but it’s exactly what Trump wants people to do.

He wants everybody to be armed so that the odds of someone killing an ICE agent go up. Trump believes conflict between the government and citizens will allow him to use the Insurrection Act to mobilize the military against us, and then as he continues to escalate violence, he believes that he’ll be justified in canceling our elections moving forward.

People need to keep this in mind as they decide how to act going forward. It is practical to arm yourself, but you should go out of your way to avoid using a weapon.

It’s so sad to see people on the left swallow NRA mythology. All these gun owners are now safe from ICE, just like Alex Pretti.

If it ever came to armed conflict, not having guns means you lose by default. Obviously having a gun does not make you invincible, and it’s a lazy strawman to imply that is what people are thinking.

What we do know is being legally armed and not defending your life ends in summary execution.

The issue is clearly that he didnt pull and shoot when his life was threatened. He might have sent them running and survived, however unlikely.

Thats the stupid game this admin is playing. They want to kill with impunity, and cant stand that people may fire back if they do so, but also cant back down on gun rights because they absolutly will lose their base if they do.

They are now on a very stupid “only cops should have guns and are justified in shooting you if you have a gun near them but also you can have guns and cops cant just shoot you if you have guns near them” tightrope.
