The US is halting some shipments of weapons to Ukraine amid concerns that its own stockpiles have declined too much, officials said Tuesday, a setback for the country as it tries to fend off escalating attacks from Russia.
Certain munitions were previously promised to Ukraine under the Biden administration to aid its defences during the more than three-year-old war. The pause reflects a new set of priorities under President Donald Trump and came after defence department officials scrutinised US stockpiles and raised concerns.
“This decision was made to put America’s interests first following a review of our nation’s military support and assistance to other countries across the globe,” White House spokesperson Anna Kelly said in a statement. “The strength of the United States Armed Forces remains unquestioned – just ask Iran.”

Ukrainian interests are US interests in this case.

It worries me that they think we will need them soon.
I could be wrong, but the way it normally was working is that we were sending Ukraine our old stock that was about to expire and the money that supposedly was allocated for Ukraine was actually spent on replacing our stock.
There was no more new money approved since trump took office so to me it looks like it is another way of saying that the leftover support (allocated under Biden) is ending.
I find it upsetting that from all things trump made sure to start with anti air defense, as Russia is performing bigger and bigger attacks on civilians. All that after lamenting about innocent people dying. I guess he only meant Russian soldiers.

You can’t have a high military budget, a big military industrial complex, knowledge about your stockpiles (and the rate at which they are depleted) for several years and problems with your stockpiles running dangerously low all at the same time.
And given that we know the first three points to be a fact…
Oh definitely. Theyve bern looking for excuses to do this since the inauguration. Besides grifting breaking away from Ukraine (and nato) is basically the only firm purpose of the Trump afministration
