It is only $30 extra, provides all the same proof of citizenship that a passport book does, and it is small enough to carry in your wallet. You shouldn’t have to spend all this money to prove you belong here, but here we are.
Will ICE take it seriously when you present it to them? Of course not, they will say it is fake and confiscate it (and you). But at least you have your passport book safely at home, and your family can present it to get you out (once they find where ICE has whisked you off to). Assuming they manage to do all that, you now have the privilege of paying to sue the Federal Government for wrongful detention in order to get your card back so it doesn’t happen again.

This quote by Kavanaugh is a false statement, and probably a lie. Lots of permanent residents with valid green cards and people with valid visas are getting abducted by ICE, and then their visa or green card is simply revoked for no reason. Then they are deported.
I’d like him to tell that to my coworker, who is here legally and got swept up by ICE last month. He’s still being held in an upstate detention facility. Hey Kavanaugh, get yerself a plane ticket bro!
Haven’t there been cases where not only are the ICEstapo demanding “your papers” (which is not at all the least bit chilling in a supposedly free nation), but then they confiscate the document(s) and kidnap the person anyway?
They don’t want any list, regulations or requirements. What they do want is to do whatever the fuck they feel like at the moment with no retribution whatsoever. That way they can take anyone in anytime.
This is exactly the wet dream I saw laid out by online Nazis (like on Diaspora) cheering Taco’s first “win” back in 2016.
They were gleefully looking forward to mass disruption in the racial makeup in this country, and they very much anticipated the likes of Taco, Bannon, Gorka and Stephen Miller imprisoning, deporting and ideally killing lots of POC. (They also look forward to killing lots of “Communists”, too, using a very, very broad definition of “Communists” that no normal American would ever use.)
Someone would say “demographics is destiny” to some of these people, and they’d respond with things like “well, there were millions of Jews throughout Europe before Hitler came to power, too”.
The snowflakes on the right know very well that the demographics were changing, and instead of embracing that change, they opted for the likes of Taco so that he would take drastic steps to change those demographics.
