If I am going to be completely honest, part of their outsourcing is why I waited until a few days ago to start the game.

Not because I knew, but because the initial screenshots and clips showed a very generic unreal engine level of graphics. With chromatic abberation everywhere, the exact same hair you see in every recent UE game, the same facial style that makes it easier to match mouth movements, and so on. Once I heard it actually had a good story I ended up putting in about ten hours in a day after I started. But they did suffer from outsourcing parts of the game.

In parts of Europe you have to “prove” that you’re over 18 to watch videos that are age restricted on youtube. By doing something like a $0 credit card purchase on your google account.

And Discord has been talking about facial reckognition age verification in the UK over their new “sensitive content” regulation. So it would block that content if not approved via that or other thing(like digital purchase or national ID).

I know it’s popular to go “developer good, publisher bad”, but in Bioware’s case, from what I’ve read, they were mostly just given the rope to hang themselves.

Ever since ME Andromeda they’ve been outsourcing a lot of the work, and/or using smaller and inexperienced studios while promoting and launching them as if made by the main studio.

I’ve said for years that one or more of the main characters should be prominent, but you play most of the game as a custom character and you get to choose your witcher school. So I’m sort of hoping that she’s the protagonist and main character in a similar way to how she is TW3.

Russia, on their own, started developing SPFS almost a decade before they were banned, because they were threatened with a ban in 2014 if they didn’t stop invading more after Crimea. So when they invaded again they were rightfully banned.

The SPFS functions with some banks covering about 15 countries, hoping for 20 soon. SWIFT is still happily used by over 200 countries.

Replying as if half the comment doesn’t exist and putting the word intelligent in quotes is a classic antagonizing move by trolls to make people try to engage them.

Don’t just open it, see thousands of dollars spent, react like it is some huge expenditure and close it without thinking things through. Don’t forget that the account is years old and when you do some simple division it going to come out to $30 a month or some number that is reasonable for you to spend on a hobby that you have spent hundreds to thousands of hours enjoying.

If I pay for a service and get ads, that service is dead to me forever.

Indeed, the vast majority on any social media platform does not engage. And when they do it’s mostly just liking content and not even replying. You see it on lemmy as well, with news articles often having few comments. And when they do it’s one or two top comments and a bunch of replies.

Over the years the only thing I can imagine is to add another anonymizing layer, where people can send in questions and the “best ones” are posted by a general/bot account. But that is something people much smarter than me have tried to figure out for years, so I have no idea how it would be implemented.

Is there a way to encourage people to post more? Because the main problem seems to be getting actual posts, not replies to them.

For example “nostupidquestions” only has a few questions a day, but there are 40k subscribers and 1500 people or so checking in every day. It has 4.2k posts and 170k comments.

“asklemmy” has more posts, fewers subscribers, and over 2k a day check in. 6k posts and 317k comments.

Yeah, this is why they’ve been spamming social media(including lemmy) with the whole “Kakistocracy” thing recently.

They really want you to think the idiots are in charge, that way you don’t try to dig deeper as the idiots chop off everything they see and some parts they’re told. Just look at the Librarian of Congress thing. People were making jokes about librarians, meanwhile she was basically in charge of defining DMCA and digital copyright.

It’s mostly just morons hacking and slashing with zero understanding. They literally just search for “climate”, “trans”, etc. to cut funding and remove access without checking anything, they just assume they’re correct.

And then when theyr’e called out they just lie and double down. The real scary part is that there are people who have an inkling of what they’re doing, and you’re not hearing much about the things they’re changing.

I think the biggest one by value is Meta with €1.2b. Although their revenue is in the $150b+ range, so not maxed out.

At this point the only reason they aren’t openly transferring money into their own accounts, is because they still have some fear of the international banking system.

Indeed, they specifically called it genocide when it was announced. And they voted against their leadership who only wanted one of those “culture and academic” boycotts(a small part of the leadership also wanted to call it “unimaginable suffering” instead of genocide). But the people voted 240 in favor and 69 against an economic boycott. They’re also backing up the UN’s demand of the occupation ending by September. At which point they want Norway to initiate an international boycott if it has not happened.

They have some ties to the current major political party, the Labour Party, who’s leader said he “disagreed”.

For reference, this an “umbrella organization” with two dozen smaller unions totaling over a million people, out of Norways 5.5m total population. They represent around 35% of working adults, meaning that if they go into strike, the country shuts down.
