I feel like people are trying to read too far into Trump’s intentions. He doesn’t even know what a tariff is, he just knows that it hurts someone, and being a bully that’s all he wants to do. He’s just trying to throw his weight around and make people notice him, and it’s working.
Semiconductor production takes massive amounts of electricity. Quebec, Ontario, and BC produce a ton of cheap hydro power.
It’s another example of being ‘right’ but being ignorant to the full picture.
No, it’s just wrong. These are import tariffs, paid to the government by the individual or company importing the goods, and not by the exporting country.
The goal of import tariffs, is to increase the price of imported goods and materials to promote the use of local alternatives. The problem is that the US has given up on a lot of production of raw materials and imports a huge amount of them, like aluminum and paper products, from its neighbors. So now those raw materials cost more, and even locally-made products, made with imported materials, will have to get more expensive as a result.
While that’s all true, nobody likes Vance or Johnson the way they like Trump. If he dies and Vance replaces him, I expect a lot more pushback than what Trump gets.
It’s worth going to that area and seeing other stuff. Cancún is not a great place, but there are lots of cool things in the area
Probably because it needs to be flexible.
The free market dictates that in a shortage, the cost of the goods or services must rise to meet the equilibrium of supply and demand. Anything else is surely incredibly inefficient.
Perhaps American tourists are buying Canadian eggs and smuggling them back home. Wouldn’t be worth the trip across just for that, but if you’re already there…
In the settings panel, the Advanced section has a setting for network interface, with a drop down menu of your available network devices. Your VPN connection should appear as a separate device in the list. If you choose that, it will only send data through that device, so if you’re not connected, it has nowhere to send data to.
The github only has a description of the setting, and doesn’t really explain it any more than that.
Rob is dead, he can’t do much more damage at this point.
Does Transmission let you force the use of a specific connection?
For example, qBittorrent lets you choose your VPN as its only allowed connection so that you can’t accidentally use your regular network when not connected to the VPN.
Mercaptan is the chemical they add to it, which has a very recognizable smell. It is a sulfur compound though, so I guess I’m just being pedantic.
The headline is accurate, but it is also easy to misinterpret. I do agree it should have been worded more effectively.

It’s been in the works for years, so I wouldn’t say it’s relevant to Trudeau leaving office. In fact, him leaving office means he can’t ensure that the project goes forward, since the incoming PM could easily cancel it. This is only an announcement that the government has said the project is ok, not that it’s going to happen.
Luxembourg is landlocked, it’s not their fault.
I strongly suspect that some money changed hands for Valve to present this angle to consumers
Maybe? It’s certainly a reasonable expectation. I mean I agree it’s probably not something that people actively seek out in general, but they have all kinds of sales based on themes that people don’t necessarily think to look for either. As a gamer from Quebec, I don’t actively search for games made in Quebec, but it’s nice to be able to look at a collection like this and know that they’re all made locally without having to make an active search for that. It’s a factor that’s generally not advertised very explicitly.
Yeah, I know British guy who recently became a citizen, and he said it was pretty weird.
Trudeau has approved a high-speed rail project connecting Quebec City, Montreal, Ottawa, and Toronto. Now we just need to wait for the next administration to cancel it.
These sales are pretty regular. I see them at least yearly, it’s not a political context-dependent sale on Steam’s part.
Quebec also has a pretty big gaming presence, with Ubisoft, Behaviour, Eidos, EA, WB, Bethesda, and many others big players having studios in Montreal.
