The U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency said it will halt collections of tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act at 12:01 a.m. EST (0501 GMT) on Tuesday, more than three days after the U.S. Supreme Court declared the duties illegal.

The agency said in a message to shippers, opens new tab on its Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) that it will de-activate all tariff codes associated with Donald Trump’s prior IEEPA-related orders as of Tuesday.

The IEEPA tariff collection halt coincides with Trump’s imposition of a new, 15% global tariff under a different legal authority to replace the ones struck down by the Supreme Court on Friday.

And when will they start collecting the new tantrum based 10 15% tariffs?

Imagine for a moment if you will…

You or I break the law.

For a crime where we get to KEEP DOING IT for 14 months, the entire time they are litigating it.

Then it’s deemed so egregiously illegal by the highest court in the land (of which you’ve appointed 1/3 of).

That they demand you stop, and you…take the weekend to think about it?

Then you just move next door and continue breaking the law in an almost identical fashion.

Now imagine it’s for 175 billion dollars stolen from every American for generations.

Why would no one go to jail for this?

Why aren’t people getting fired, impeached, or removed?

because republicans are disaster capitalists, and neoliberals capitalists smart enough to know what that implies when they’re in power. they’re trying to crash the economy so they can buy distressed assets on the cheap when it crumbles.

then once it crashes the old guard will come out of the woodwork and play damage control after the fact, pinning everything on trump/his sycophants. pretending like this isn’t the same old game of boom/bust they’ve been playing for generations

the only difference between republicans qnd neolibs is neolibs like to keep the veneer of fair play, so there isn’t blood in the streets when it’s time for the dump cycle. they are otherwise on the same team with their fellow capitalists.

Plus if there are reimbursements for the illegal tariffs they’ll go to the companies who raised prices.

A 2am xhitter tweet by a demented president doesn’t actually change their orders. Even a signed executive order signed by the president doesn’t do anything if it’s general. Specific instructions need to be formalized and implemented and the morons in the WH aren’t so good at that - it will take time, and if the try to back date policy they will likely be sued. Meanwhile, companies are shifting product to US warehouses quickly right now. And of course they won’t lower prices to consumers because why would they, especially since the orange moron has said he will add tariffs back as soon as he can.
