Renee Nicole Macklin Good, the woman shot dead by an ICE agent on Wednesday, was a loving mom who had just dropped her son off at school, her ex-husband said.
Quick reminder to anyone reading, since the other reply here implied implications about what is to be done: whatever your opinions on violence may be you should never, under any circumstances, suggest that yourself or others should or will commit violent or illegal acts in your own country or countries that your country has extradition treaties with.
The revolution will not happen on Lemmy or any other public forum. You can only hurt yourself and your fellow travelers by posting violent threats or incitement to other illegal activity. Do not post credible threats. The cops can and will show up at your house.
Well said. Credible actionable violent rhetoric should not be tolerated. But all the TokTik doublespeak to bypass censorship or dance around an aggressive subject is, quite frankly, intolerable to read anywhere.
Say exactly what the fuck you mean. Stop doing mob-boss speak like Trump does with his lackeys.
Lots of are organizing and pushing back. Let’s not assume every American is accepting fascism lying down.
And even if you’re not protesting and organizing neighborhood ICE watches, sharing these stories is also important. Especially since right wing media censorship is increasing in the US. People need to know what’s happening in order to be mad about it.
The benefit of doubt is wearing thin. The US has a rich history of memorable and highly disruptive political protests and riots, from the Boston Tea Party to BLM and the J6 insurrectionists storming Capitol Hill. None of those happened since Trump took office for this term.
Indian independence, South African end of apartheid, Philippines end or Marcos, US civil rights movement, and I could go on. We have plenty of examples where protests, strikes, and civil disobedience were the main catalyst for change, not a violent resistance movement.
Mother fuckers out here trying to cherry pick and revision history to align with their narrative. While their leader is openly saying that only violent power matters in the world.
Organize a protest in your community. Write letters (plural, don’t stop) to your representative. Talk to your friends, family, and coworkers about what needs to change. Participate in other organized protests. Endorse and help organize a general strike.
Trump is doing poorly in polling, he’s an obvious pedophile and the economy is shit.
We could take advantage of that and win in 2026, giving Congress the ability to check the Trump administration.
Or we could run out into the street and initiate uncontrolled, disorganized violence that will kill way more innocent civilians than anyone, giving Trump the excuse he wants to militarily shut down society.
I hate my country.

It’s being live streamed by the revolutionaries themselves on X, Truth Social and whitehouse.gov, though.
Not that I disagree with your wider point.

We probably need a new version of that song. People might not listen to the still current message because they think TV is dead.
Brian Jackson did a pretty good update. Check it out!
I hate about thirty million people in this country.
Why such a small number?
🎵 America! FUCK NO!
America’s here to ruin the motherfuckin’ day! 🎵
I wonder what Team America 2 would be like.
🎶"PETE HEGSETH IS A FUCKIN’ DOUCHE"🎶
I think Matt Stone and Trey Parker have been on their last creative legs for a while, so probably pretty meh reboot among meh reboots.
Do something about it.

Until the fascists are gone, it’s not enough. Sorry, not sorry.
Sounds like a good way to lose a lot of babies searching for that perfect bath water.
Absolutely meaningless statement lol. Just because there is a saying (aka meme) that sounds deep ands profound doesn’t make it true.
The perfect bath water in this metaphor being “not having a fascist, warmongering, narcissist pedophile head of state”.
What are you doing?
I don’t live in the States.
Then shut the fuck up and let us deal with it.

Maybe that would be okay if your country wasn’t threatening mine. Also if you were, you know, actually dealing with it.
You are right, look at history, freedom was always paid for by blood.

Indian independence?

How much is Trump admin paying you?
Okay I guess I’ll just give up because nothing will ever be good enough.
Oh wait already have.
If I thought there was something I could do I would do it.
Organize a protest in your community. Write letters (plural, don’t stop) to your representative. Talk to your friends, family, and coworkers about what needs to change. Participate in other organized protests. Endorse and help organize a general strike.
Exercise a few other constitutional rights.
