They use the front face scanner that’s used for Face ID, right? I’m pretty sure those have been on all iPhones since the 10 from 2017, so it’s hardly a bleeding edge feature considering it’s 8 years old. Having an iPhone as a hard requirement definitely sucks though.

I understand why they have the requirement: They want a 3d model of your face that they know is good enough so that they can make the facial interface.

What I don’t understand is why do they not accept a 3d model you create yourself? Using photogrammetry and a friend, it would not be too difficult to get a good 3d model of your face. Heck, they could even do a service where you send the photos of your face directly to Bigscreen where they process it for an extra fee. Boom, now there is no iPhone requirement to buy the product.

Huh. I have personally found SteamVR to be slow and very flakey, even on Windows. I find using monado I can just play. I guess monado has a bit more initial setup, but I personally found it to be worth it.

Maybe they mean that they use flatscreen applications in VR, or maybe they take all their meetings in VRChat.

Yes, Meta shit actually works quite well using Wivrn apart from it being, well, from Meta. lvra.gitlab.io is a treasure trove of Linux VR info. SteamVR is kinda shit on linux, so using the open source openXR runtime Monado is ideal. I personally use a pimax 5k I got cheap used to play Beat saber and it works quite well. While not complete, there is very promising progress on getting WMR headsets working. The Index, Vive and Vive pro all work with no fiddling though if that’s what you’re after.

Hugo is also pretty cool.

I got it specifically for Linux usage. I had a 2060 before that, but got fed up with NVidia’s drivers and replaced it with the ARC. I only need Vulkan and OpenGL, so the performance pitfalls on Windows don’t really apply to my usage. It works perfectly on Linux, but I ran into issues literally just trying to update the drivers on Windows.

Filestash looks awesome! I tried the demo on my phone and it was way snappier than Nextcloud or even Google drive lol. I mostly use Nextcloud for documents and for calender and contacts, so I might replace nextcloud soon given how slow it usually is.

AMD processors also have worse video encoding compared to Intel, which matters for Jellyfin.

The OP6 is already so big that it’s quite the brick with a case. I’m hoping that the people working at Fairphone can get PostmarketOS running reasonably well on their devices considering PostmarketOS aligns pretty well with their goals.

I’m pretty sure my bank’s android app is just webview considering it has a cookie banner when starting it and it looks almost identical to the actual bank website. The biggest feature of the bank app is for 2FA, but it’s not like it’s much more convenient than SMS and they really should be supporting FIDO2 and TOTP codes for actually secure 2FA.

Actually, apparently the pixel3a now has both front and rear camera support, though still in the very early stages. I also like how the pixel3a has a plastic back instead of the glass on the OP6 so it does not shatter if you drop it.

Not much has changed since then. I use Phosh since as beautiful as gnome mobile is, it lacks some functionality.
