No worries! The only reason to evaluate (or re-evaluate) a piece of software is if you have a need or desire the software might fulfill. And if you don’t have either, it literally doesn’t matter, lol.

I quite like Discord, but I really only use it for it’s original purpose - a place for groups of friends to hang out, play video games with voice chat, and maybe watch shows/movies together. For these purposes, Discord is great!
I have found very little value in how Discord gets used for anything and everything else - forums for video games, support channels for businesses, 1000+ member communities, etc etc. All of those use cases feel better served through traditional websites and forums… but it’s so much easier to set up a Discord server for the average person it has turned into a weird default.
In that regard, fuck Discord.
I’ll be the first to admit I have no idea what my Chucklefuck in Chief means by trying to get rid of voting booths.
But if I had to guess, I think he means literally the booths. As in, no privacy. Just paper on a desk where anyone can see what you’re doing.
If it isn’t clear, this fucker has no idea what a free and fair election is SUPPOSED to look like. He just wants to make sure whatever system we end up with favors him and him alone. And for some reason, voting booths are catching his ire. Maybe he feels insecure not knowing if Melania actually voted for him.
Jesus fuck me
Survey researchers are well aware of the biases from different data collection methods. Phone polling tending to overrepresent old folks is a a big one. They try to balance that out with various statistical weighting methods, usually by combining with census data or other demographic survey sets.
It’s unfortunate, but yeah we do have about a third of the country going hard conservative/fascist.
I’m sure the media played a part.
But fuck. He was so obvious with his racism, with his desire to be a dictator, fuckin everything.
Fuck.
I don’t think I would say non-voters support this.
But they sure as fuck are complicit in not stopping an OBVIOUS threat to democracy by failing to do the absolute bare minimum civic duty of voting.
Edit: fixed grammar
I don’t think Trump won quite as decisively as it first seemed.
But shit, it’s still like… a third of our country that looked at Trump and went, “yeah sure”.
How the fuck do we fix this? I straight up have no clue. And that means it very likely will devolve into violence. And that is legitimately terrifying.
I think it’s fair to say Russia exacerbated our existing issues. That doesn’t absolve us, as you point out, but it’s not unreasonable to say “Russia won”, either.
We had every opportunity to fix our issues. But nope, we just never really dealt with our history of racism and all the other bigotries (and capitalism, let’s be real). When we tried to make things better, the reactionaries pushed back. First with war, and when that was lost, with law, and when that was lost, with rewriting history. That is a strategy that keeps working. Turns out if you don’t care for your citizens, they’ll eat up all that fake history looking for someone to blame. And that makes us weak to fascism.
So yeah, Russia may have sped up the process, but the roots of our downfall were here all along.
The “respect” and “you should be thankful” comments reminded me of that old (I think Tumblr) post:
Sometimes people use “respect” to mean “treating someone like a person” and sometimes they use “respect” to mean “treating someone like an authority”.
and sometimes people who are used to being treated like an authority say “if you won’t respect me, I won’t respect you” and they mean “if you won’t treat me like an authority, I won’t treat you like a person.”
and they think they’re being fair, but they aren’t, and it’s not okay.
I like this idea, but I don’t know how you build a site to facilitate that without also being super appealing to children and pedos at the same time.
Oh yeah I first saw that on a miniminuteman YouTube short. At first I thought, no way, then he played the clip in context. And uh. Yeah. Woof. That’s a Nazi salute alright.
I think I’d put it this way - I like adventuring, exploring, and finding my way through an immersive world. I don’t like when I can’t seem to stumble into the exact right clue or secret passage or interactable and waste up to possibly hours scouring the same locations over and over.
That said, metroidvanias are my favorite videogame genre. I just had to accept that it’s okay to look up a guide or wiki before I get fully tilted.
You misunderstand. This IS Trump’s chosen stooge. FTC Chairman Carr.
He’s complaining about tech companies “censoring” conservatives for “speaking their minds”, aka being hateful bigots and spreading misinformation during a public health crisis.
I’m unfamiliar with the context for most of these. Plenty don’t look like Nazi salutes. To me, anyway.
But literally every word that has slithered out of that moldy potato’s mouth for the last two decades is all you need to know he’s a white supremacist.
So, kinda. “Steam Machines” was the old initiative from 2013(?). The idea was to build a coalition of 3rd party machines with a branding and hardware guidelines for Asus, Acer, etc to build a ton of console-likes. Basically trying to replicate the PC market of diverse hardware from a bunch of OEMs to create a new market segment in the console space.
The difference here is that Valve is allegedly building a console themselves, fully 1st party with their own hardware and software, like they did with the Steam Deck. I imagine if this one has enough market traction (as determined by Valve), they’ll iterate on the software hard for a couple of years (and possibly the controller, too), then expand with guidelines for OEMs to make their own versions of the console using SteamOS. Basically, just follow the Steam Deck playbook and hope it works like last time.
Yeah same, but I only have a 1440p monitor, and I can barely tell the difference after 90hz, anyhow.
I’m still rocking a 2070 and doing great. Turns out the games that I like rarely depend on graphical fidelity, but rather on good visual design and game design.
But yeah if graphical fidelity is your bag, or if you need every possible frame for competitive reasons, then your options are much more limited and far more expensive. Sucks.
My 2070 is still treating me pretty well!
High skill ceiling?
More like a high skill floor! Good Lord, I don’t think I’d ever be able to beat that level without cheats, lol.
