I feel sorry for your 1 brain cell.
I don’t think the US military complex consider that “less undesirable” than basically any other possible outcome.
Either I disagree about the preferences of those murder-weapons-vendors, or you misunderstood my intentional double-negative, whose purpose it was to emphasize that it is absolutely not desirable that budgets have to be increased for mass-murder weapons.
I am saying the military industrial complex over in the divided states of fuck all and everyone, would absolutely prefer if people bought from them, less so as a cash-out but preferably as a permanent source of income. A privatized murder-weapons industry in the billions is the best way of ensuring we will never get lasting peace on this planet.
that is the less undesirable outcome, but still it is depressing how primitive and fucking dumb humans are to still be bashing each others skulls in in the year 2025.
Never underestimate the corruption and stupidity of European politicians. “Divide and conquer” works like a charm on most of our corrupt assholes. See the stupid opportunist fuck that the Germans elected chancellor. His (our :'( ) government is pushing for the use of the Palantir(!) software from fucking uber-Nazi-piece-of-shit Thiel in German administrations.
Probably because they want those 5% GDP spent for contracts with the 'murican military industrial complex.
My apologies - somehow my brain replaced “evil neocon fuck Miller” with “evil neocon fuck Thiel”. Understandable glitch in hindsight…
Fairphone has really gone off the deep end. 6 phone models in what? less than 12 years? That’s what they call dedication to sustainability? Really? They used to say the most sustainable phone is your old phone, assuming you can continue to use it. Yet - my Fairphone 1, still in good working order hardware-wise, I had to “scrap” because no more SW updates. When my FP2 hardware (charging port) eventually failed, they no longer sold the relevant spare parts.
What good are exchangeable parts, if they are removed from the shop around the time that a well-treated phone might need them?
Yes, that’s what I said, reduced to the relevance of this headline.
Erm… no shit Sherlock? Palantir is his fucking company? He founded it?
Not to say he isn’t a shitstain on this planet, but this is not news?
Edit: I could have sworn the title of the post said “Peter Thiel” - maybe it was updated later, but more likely my brain glitched…
It’s the thing that the only person who can know for sure you have it is you yourself. If you have to ask, I might have to assume you could be a biological machine.
Evidence says people aren’t skeptical for the most part and LLMs are good enough to fool all of us some of the time and some of us all of the time :(
Where did you read “USA good” in that post?
it is snake oil in the sense that it is being sold as “AI”, which it isn’t. It is dangerous because LLMs can be used for targeted manipulation of millions if not billions of people.
Repeat after me: it’s NOT FUCKING A FUCKING I when it is LLMs or other machine learning snakeoil.
Surprise motherfuckers. Maybe don’t give grant money to LLM snakeoil fuckers, and maybe don’t allow mass for-profit copyright violations.
Upvote for being a European (EU) based product. Sadly, we are also in danger of slipping into totalitarism.
The FAQ has an entry for this that I just stumbled across:
We dream of a world where technology (both SW and HW) is completely open, but at the moment, this is not entirely possible. Our goal is to contribute to progress in this line by publishing all our developments to support the community.
However, some components (such as the communications module or the CPU) do not have publicly available schematics and cannot be replicated. This prevents our device from being fully open source. Nevertheless, we are committed to publishing all our own development work and continuously seeking for components that respect user freedom without compromising usability.
Regarding the software, the entire operating system will be open source, and all LiberuxOS developments will be published. The installed software will also be open source. However, some parts of the firmware will remain closed, as some manufacturers do not release their code. Still, we will do our best to open more parts of our system over time.
I think what you responded to was sarcasm
I know my Gandalf like your average LOTR fan, but boy do I wish death upon these people…
