1·56 minutes agoI think that’s how sports should be digested. It’s impossible to keep track of every single game, much less, even attend those games. I think that’s a luxury for those who obviously can afford to do so.
The only time I’m involved with sports is when the playoffs happen, so I’m there for the World Series. But I’m not there for the full 162-game season. I’ll root for my team when they’re doing good in the standings, whether they’ve done some right moves and criticize them when they do something stupid or fail the season.

108·1 day agoHa, shows you right.
God, people, just get yourselves flash drives or an external drive. Cloud storage is dumb.
You could make either of those options last through your entire lifetime if you care for them properly. But I guess people enjoy the idea of going “huh?” whenever files mysteriously disappear from cloud storage.

Technology@lemmy.world•Discord in discussions of going Public Trading, economics expert discusses how that might change things
10·2 days agoWell the developers, like all techbros, have been sweetening up Discord to what it is. Once they find a pretty buyer, they’ll sell it for top dollar. That’s the real completion cycle of enshittification. Some private firm will have it or someone like Microsoft may have it and do to it like they’ve done with Skype.

5·2 days agoIt’s been enshittifying for a while now.
Who the hell would pay $12 for some fancy profile template? Who’d pay $6 just for an animated thing that revolves around your profile picture? Half of that garbage obstructs your profile.
Not even subscribing to their $10 Nitro deal is worth it. Wow, you get to have a poor selection of ways to display your name. Maybe if a server you really love to be in was active and could take advantage of some of the things advertised, probably might be worth it. But a lot of the time, I’m in servers that don’t so I don’t see a point.
Not too far off from what actually happened to some people. Christ. The levels the authorities went to protect the pockets of all of those rich executives.

Games@lemmy.world•Switch 2 Sales Reportedly Struggled Over The Christmas Period
5·2 days agoI haven’t bought it because the games I would’ve wanted to play on the Switch - still would work fine on the Switch. I don’t feel the need or see the need to jump to Switch 2. I haven’t even gotten a Switch for myself yet but I want one someday for Super Mario RPG.
Nintendo is just, fucking backwards in how they do business these days.

15·4 days agoAnd will not have the time to play them all.
People underestimate the numbers of games released. They see 1,353 and may see that as a challenge. But every game you play is going to amass into hours and hours per game. Moreso once you get into the RPG ones.

0·5 days agoYup. They have an AI Art Generator called ‘Dream Up’ and it does exactly what you think it does.
So you can just make an account now, not caring about actually drawing or rendering anything, but you can just generate art. It’s crazy.

20·5 days agoThey’ve committed themselves to AI art, that’s how dead it is.
I remembered fond memories predating that period though. The chat room community was at once, very large. The chats still in fact exist, though, they’ve really tucked them away in a corner. Still have friends from there, still have seen so much talent come through there.
But you won’t ever tell anymore what AI is and what AI isn’t, because they’ve welcomed AI with open arms for a while. DeviantArt has truly backstabbed so many artists, without a care.
Oh and their logo is stupid as shit, looks more like an X than DA.

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•What are my rights? Just realized I don't know basic shit about the legal aspect of piracy
5·5 days agoWe’re not in the 2000s where the RIAA/MPAA spent hour after hour, individually going after individuals whom they suspect is pirating.
They’ve changed up tactics all throughout the 2010s and into today. Where, they’re holding ISPs accountable and are targeting owners of services and pirating sites instead. They’ve actually got some victories under their belt through this, which is a damn shame, so it’s telling them that it is working. Not to mention we’ve had the misfortune of dealing with ACE, their little treehouse club and lots of copyright trolls that act as copycats who take it upon themselves to operate similarly as to how they did in the 2000s.
You have far greater risk being an owner, being the uploader and being the source of pirating than you are these days, just downloading it. Your ISP decides when they want to take action against whatever files you’ve downloaded.
As people have said, your best tools are with VPNs and figuring out which VPN has your back, most importantly. That’s what pirating has come down to and that is trust.
But blah blah, we get it, the feds will say copyright is a crime and blah blah. We got that decades ago, we just don’t care because consumer rights have been thoroughly fucked over which in turn, causes us to pirate. A lesson these idiots refuse to learn.
