I remember 90s search engines. AltaVista was pretty ok a t searching the small web that existed, but I’m pretty sure I can get better answers from the LLMs tied to Kagi search.

AltaVista also got blown out of the water by google(back when it was just a search engine), and that was in the 00s not the 90s. 25 to 35 years ago is a long time, search is so so much better these days(or worse if you use a “search” engine like Google now).

Just to be clear to anyone reading this, please vote. Please vote in your local elections. I just don’t think voting alone is going to change violent behavior from big corps. History has shown us how fast companies can take power, and how they can rival or exceed the cruelty of Nazi Germany, look at many of the large trading companies back in the day. They did horrific, horrific shit. Look at all the examples of the terrible shit companies pull today. Companies have committed genocides, we just remember them differently than the Nazis because they lost the war and all their PR people. But companies have more PR people than ever.

I can’t believe some people think that putting tariffs on a country means the country will just give the government 25% of everything and the merchants of that country are not just going to raise the prices to match the new expenses(or maybe even a little bit more since they have a good excuse to change prices).

I guess I can stand to eat a bit less, we can call it the economic collapse of the US diet! Just think of all the profits from the diet books! To bad they are going to cost 30% more now that my Mexican publisher is paying a tarrif to bring the books into the US. That’s OK, spending more money on the book just means that you won’t be able to afford as much food, making the diet work even better!
