  • Edit: And just like that I fuck up and reply to the wrong comment. Oh Lemmy, you always have a way of reminding me why I hate using phones to read and type.

That doesn’t answer their question, though.

The reply about NK seems out of place. Someone says a joke about strangling a [fascist] baby [in it’s state of infancy] and another mentions some event (presumably involving infanticide) happening in the most repressed and propagandized country in the world, but fails to mention what event they refer to. I am also confused…

  • Media is not a good place to learn about military life. If you are in the States, you might have a local VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars). The old guys in there will likely talk your ear off about their experiences, just don’t press for details about specific combat experience unless they broach the subject.

If you want to learn more about the military and their oath, from popular media sources, NCIS is the show to watch. It’s relatively accurate in it’s display of service life, and they cite the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) in what seems like every episode. Now that is the real bread and butter of a military members legal guidance. Every military member is keenly aware of that book, especially when deploying.

Source: A military veteran and friend of multiple military peeps from multiple branches, backgrounds, and countries. The depiction of mindless drones is far from accurate. They exist, just like you have shitty people at any job, but as someone else pointed out above here, the higher up the branch you go, the more left-leaning the soldier is. That’s why tRump had to appoint a complete dunce to DoD, and not someone with military background and scruples. You know that if tRump could get military support from upper command that he wouldn’t hesitate to post soldiers around him for every presser. He is a weak-man’s idea of a strong-man.

  • I disagree. I’m glad people like my brother’s friend kept trying to reach me when I was still roped into the lies my parents regurgitated from the Republicans and ultra wealthy. It takes effort to get through that wall and reach the person. For me, it was pointing out all the lies I was being a mouthpiece to and checked for myself. He wasn’t mad, or condescending, and through his patience I realized all the shit my parents believed were basically all bullshit.

As for this comment, I get the sentiment behind it, but abandoning these youth as they parrot their parents’, just prove what the right says about the others like the Democrat party. I agree that a lot of their parents are long gone through propaganda and a buildup of lead in their brains, but we can get through to youth if we don’t write them off out of the gate.

  • We’ll have to see if that holds true after people watch their retirements get obliterated by a drastic drop in stock values across the board. Biden didn’t do enough to show the people that the economy was doing well, and recovering better than other countries around the world, under his watch. Trump won’t be able to pin this downward economic trend on Biden cause it happened too fast and multiple sources have cited the import tax, or fear of them, at the reason for the stock market tanking.

If owning the libs is so important that tRump voters will still vote for the ones actively hurting them, then those people are truly beyond help.
