Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft guide to pirating Harry Potter for LLM trainingEnglish
10·6 days agoIt’s also Microsoft’s get-out-of-jail-free card here; someone else ripped the ebooks, processed them, and uploaded them under a CC0 Public Domain license. “How were we meant to know the release wasn’t authorized?”

And by extension, Yule and Christmas, Ēosturmōnaþ and Easter, Samhain and Hallowe’en.

World News@lemmy.world•Instagram suspends Track AIPAC, watchdog tracking pro-Israel lobby spendingEnglish
23·13 days agoI just flicked through a full month of their posts on Bluesky, assuming I’d find some that could plausibly be seen as harassment. I found nothing other than spotlighting of public representatives who have accepted Israeli lobby money, presented factually; the rest is pretty much all endorsements of alternative US governmental candidates.
Could you spotlight a few posts that demonstrate what you’re saying?

Open Source@lemmy.ml•We’re pleased to announce the release of LibreOffice 26.2 🥳
2·20 days agoIf you’re using KDE, apparently changing your system application style might help - Breeze, for example, has an option for visible scroll arrows. Link.
In any case, it’s a GTK thing, not a LibreOffice thing.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•We’re pleased to announce the release of LibreOffice 26.2 🥳
2·20 days agoThis strikes me as an odd comment. Did you have a specific reason to expect that 26.2 would include this, such as an enhancement request that you’d logged (or had been following) via their community channels?

5·21 days agoAlso, I’m curious about the UI refinement.
In the release notes you’ve linked, there’s a heading called User Interface. It’s a fair number of small QOL improvements.

1·24 days agoIs this not just AFU? If so, the effect for a physical user is the same (needs the passkey), but encryption keys are still loaded.
This is a way bigger faux pas than an ignorable “hi” in my books. We’ve got tools for organizing a meeting. You can check my availability alongside everyone else’s, so we don’t spend three hours playing Calendar Battleships.
Even if it’s just the two of us, don’t ask me to check my calendar because you can’t be bothered to.

Foddy’s most recent game, Baby Steps, is getting good reviews. I’ve not played it myself, but it’s a 3D game in the same genre; you’re a very unfit basement-dwelling 30-something who gets teleported (in your onesie) to the wilderness, and you’re trying to manage your balance as you make your way to a mountain.

The logo is from Marvel comics. Schmidt is a Nazi SS Obergruppenführer in charge of special weapons development; his division is known as Hydra and is the revival of an ancient cult. After a drug-induced mutation, Schmidt is known as the Red Skull.
Don’t ask me any more questions, though; I’ll have already forgotten everything I just read!
