I feel for you. Here’s hoping the new system is clean.

That’s actually a fair point. I’ve seen it in the UI but I’m not sure exactly how it works, but it seems like there’s communities to moderate and curate and you can simply enable them to moderate your feed, if I’m understanding it right. If so, it sounds like a really good way to compartmentalize that stuff to allow users to sort it themselves.
“Why can’t the algo find me better content?”
Motherfucker, it’s social media. You have to get social with people. Make a fucking friend, right?
Like, I fixed that shit by following George Takei and Mark Hamill and some reporters. The algo shouldn’t be finding things for you. You should be finding people.
Yeah, scratching my head just the same. My only problem with Mastodon is the same I had with StumbleUpon. It’s way too good about putting neat people and conversations in front of me and I feel bad not rising to the occasion more when I just want to deadbrain.
It just feels more like Classic Twitter, and I can imagine some users like that vibe, despite Mastodon perhaps having the better technicals to keep social media federated. I use both and they have their audience. There are services that allow crossposting too, so I’ve got a BlueSky instance out there copying my Mastodon into that feed. Just to reach out.
I’m not sure what the practicals of doing something like this will be, but it speaks a lot to who Eugen Rochko is.
He might also be an obtuse dick. I’ve gotten that vibe too. Still, good for him.
Unfortunately, I’m keeping mine to make a pipeline from there to actual content on Mastodon or BlueSky. But I basically put a URL in my bio and push a photo once a week.
Ultimately, I think we’d both agree a cabin out in the woods, maybe with solar panels, would be the best form of government, wouldn’t you say? 😀
They were talking about SteamOS 2.0 being Debian and made for general hardware and SteamOS 3.0 being Arch based and really only meant for the Steam Deck, though it’s unclear if there’s drivers enough to put it on other hardware, but we’re looking at Powered By SteamOS devices coming out. So, am I to take it that SteamOS 3.0 is implied to be capable of installing on alternate hardware now?
Like, I’m just going to stick with my Steam Deck but it’s interesting to think you can make Steam Machines again.
HA. Same. Isn’t it funny to be warned by the prior generation about “big government” only to have them purposefully fuck it up to prove the point?
I’m reasonably fine with my governor, comparatively.
I decided I was going to discontinue using Meta products except to put out an occasional Instagram photo, pushed to Facebook, to tell…people I don’t even talk to anymore, and for good reason…that I was alive and a sight of what I was doing. I discontinued my old Facebook profile and made a new one only for this purpose.
Because Facebook kind of sees me as a new user, I’m able to see content I wasn’t able to before. And fuck, that place feels like some weird scam and bot flea market.
I hope it’s soon to die but who knows if it’ll transform into some unmasked arm of the government for surveillance.
SteamOS is where I hang a LOT of faith now. Just, like, generally.
Here’s hoping this is the beginning of a freer world from the personal technology standpoint.
I love my Steam Deck. I’m browsing the Fediverse on it right now. Desktop mode is a bit of that unpolished Linux experience you can get but it’s really not bad at all. I mean, I fucking love it!
I wonder if Blue states will be sort of protected like last time. Relatively protected.
I’m quickly becoming a Federalist in the sense that I just want to be left alone in my state that still has environmental protections and fuck Alabama or whoever.
A user after my own heart.
Technically the Deck is more expensive but that’s exactly what I did, went with a Steam Deck.
There’s also Samsung DeX or other desktop-like experiences from an Android device.
An official Steam Deck mod would probably be nice. Heroic Launcher kind of works.
Fuck, fam.
I legit dropped $100. I have a Steam Deck now so it’s like I can have ANY OF IT.
So far, LOTR Moria, For Honor, Barotrauma, and Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance.
I had Dark Alliance on my OG Xbox when I was younger and I’m really looking forward to playing it again as like an idle game.
Yeah, I guess if there’s anything, I’d like to see an up to date version of The Journeyman Project point and click games.
They could pull a Wolfenstein and do an updated Nitemare 3D and do some world building in the Hugo’s House of Horrors series.
I’ve been pretty happy with it as my casual web search browser, putting all my social media on a different browser. And it’s in F-Droid, so that always feels good.
