It’s not going to stop people driving in entirely. It’s just going to add a cost. So that people who deem the cost “worth it” can still drive in. Like those taking a cruise.

How are computer costs since 1950? Or air travel? Or the costs of food?
You can’t cherry pick a single item like that.
They work great with renewables because they do what renewables can’t - provide consistent and reliable power output. They’re base load generators.
Yes, they have. I know it’s a “widely believed fact” here in lemmygrad that “the rich get richer and the poor get poorer” but by any objective measure wages have been around or keeping up with inflation. For 2024 wages beat inflation. They aren’t always lock step so there are times where they drift.
This is so simplified it’s basically a lie.
No city has infinite resources. They need to balance cost against probability.
Do you have a steel front door with 90 locks on it? Unlikely because you’re “prioritizing cost over your families safety” right?
The calculus may change now if this is seen as more likely to happen again.
Yeah… turns out a lot of these people who lived that old didn’t. Eithe lied for benefits or lived somewhere with bad records.
Why shut down nuke plants? They’re much much cleaner than fossil fuels and work well with renewables.
Of course it’s complex. Markets and wages don’t react instantly. But “generally speaking” wages do catch up.
Even at the peak the generation was only half of what coal produced.
Cutting coal usage in half would be fantastic…
But yeah - politics.
Wages have increased.
it should have been the reverse…
That’s an interesting little program. Not sure if it’s for me - I’ll either remember/lookup commands or create bash scripts for more complicated things - but it’s good to know about.
They’re not “running the show”. Nobody is. That’s not how international politics works. They have a lot of influence is all.
What a stupid take 😂
Why wouldn’t they be? China has been a major player in international politics for a long time.
Phased out nuclear.
Still burning coal.
🤦♂️
It’s a fantasy that he would see jail time for this sentence - even if he weren’t president.
It’s a price increase to use a limited resource. That’s how markets work.
