  • try to keep an eye on neat, simple engineering projects from poor countries because we may need to rely on similar options soon enough ourselves.

I am just sitting here as a infrastructure guy trying not to have a mental break of crying and laughing. It’s so fucking bad and getting so much worse. You know what was today’s item? I am working on one small system for a replacement wastewater treatment plant for a town of about 3,000 people that the pieces of shit general contractor has dragged out for 8 fucking years. 8 years for a project that should have taken 6 months. They haven’t done any work. Longer it goes on the more they get to bill. Oh and my favorite part? The general contractor is one of the bigger ones, they have a Wikipedia page.

Cost disease is going to break us. Entire country is going to be spending a trillion a year with the water supply of Flint.

Now if you excuse me I am going to drink now. Cause fuck it I can’t save anyone.

  • Criminalizing a food via the court instead of by democracy is issue here.

Your buddies at Greenpeace couldn’t produce good arguments that the product was dubious, so they used Western money, judge shopped, and out lawyered a poor nation. They get to decide for the people there. Individual farmers don’t get to decide what to do with their land, people don’t get to decide how their own nation is to be run,. Greenpeace came in and used forklift piles of money to force their will on the Pinay.

This is why people fucking hate them. The self-appointed moral authority of the human race answerable to no one but themselves.

  • Apparently what happens is you are rich, well-liked, respected, powerful, have a big family, and you live to a pretty old age.

Got to say your skydaddy is sending some mixed messages here.

Remind me again: doesn’t the Book of Job make it clear that anyone who says “x happens because you were bad, y happens because you are good” (without direct prophecy) is worthy of death? Doesn’t Leviticus make it pretty clear that you are not to interpret signs and omens? Doesn’t Solomon teach that good and bad happen to people regardless of how they act? Isn’t the actions of Jesus proof that success doesn’t mean virtue and neither does misfortune?

Try being an atheist, it is a lot easier. You get to just accept that if there is any justice in this world, it is the justice us humans make.
