YouTube also decided that every video should be ten minutes long and made the algorithm recommend videos of that length so everyone had to start making their videos ten minutes long even if it made no sense to do so.
Maybe it only allows people with an iPhone to ring your doorbell. Everyone else has to knock and then the doorbell just teases you the whole time to shame you into buying an iPhone.
Control also convinced me that DLSS was actually useful. I was hoping it’d usher in an era of running games with high settings on low end hardware but instead it just kicked off an era of devs not bothering to optimize games.
I’m convinced it will be easy to sell solar to the Right once it is marketed as ‘off-grid independent self-sufficient energy’ instead of ‘green energy’.
Since they are updating games to remove content or add launchers (which are a nuisance and sometimes break compatibility) it’s a serious pain that you can’t revert to an old version or at least opt out of updates.
Instead it is a message to tyrants: The US is for sale, you may loot and pillage as you desire. The law cannot and will not stop you.
What I’m still not sure of is this… When these websites die will the LLMs stagnate with no new data to use for training or will they somehow keep up with new technology and eliminate the need for certain basic questions that would originally have required human input?

I can’t believe that there are people are out there just raw dogging the Internet with no AdBlock. The advertising is so aggressive and intrusive. I legitimately cannot tolerate using the Internet when 80% of the page is filled with attention grabbing bullshit.

Same here. I love DuckDNS but after the third DNS outage taking down all my services I migrated to Cloudflare and haven’t had a single problem since.
People tend to think of digital things as unchanging and permanent but that isn’t really the case. I’m fascinated by the concept of bit rot and other ways that digital things can disappear or degrade over time.
It’s good that flash is not still an essential part of the modern Internet but its death did firmly cut off an entire era of Internet culture that cannot be experienced in quite the same way.
I have yet to have any success with Bottles but I assume it’s because I don’t know what I’m doing and I’m trying with software known to be difficult.
I remote into a Windows PC for Fusion 360 and Affinity suite but if I could get those working on Linux I’d be in really good shape.
