  • Just to add, the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act repealed Carter’s Mental Health Systems Act - effectively defunding community based health organizations that would support those tossed out of institutions and onto the street. Reagan and Republicans more generally just didn’t give a shit what happened to these people as long as it didn’t cost them any money and that is largely why the homeless situation is where it is today.

It also should not be forgotten that shortly after this, Rush Limbaugh began a decades-long campaign against the homeless on his radio show, constantly demonizing them and attempting to paint homelessness as a choice made exclusively by addicts and the societally worthless.

  • At what point will we look at these numbers with skepticism? When not one worker is left who can afford their services nor one customer left who wants anything to do with their utterly shit “products” - but they still blow out the quarter with 100 billion? At what point will society recognize that this money can’t possibly represent anything actually real? Will it matter if all of us starve to death and only billionaires are left if the Microsofts of the world will still be able to post 200 billion dollar “profits”?

I’m actually curious. Because I personally think that’s increasingly what all this is. Fake as shit. Some combination of algorithms, cryptocurrency, dark pools and I dunno, the Illuminati I guess.

  • This is what Vegas looked like 6 years ago, when I decided I would never go again, at least not to the strip. Wall-to-wall fucking people on every square inch. You used to get comped things to encourage you to gamble. Those days are past. Now, you can’t even park in the hotel garage at the hotel you are staying at without paying extra.

It is so tedious to listen to complaints about the “worst ever” anything when it represents a 4% fluctuation in a trend that has positively RUINED Vegas as a destination due to constant double-digit year-over-year gains.
