The far right which has taken over ICE and the Federal government under Trump is terrorizing many, many people in this country. JD Vance, Noem, and Trump know it (the cruelty is the point) and yet all cast any criticism of this fact as “terrorist rhetoric.” That kind of table-turning projection is foundational in the authoritarian playbook.
But what I don’t understand is - why does the American public discourse seem to tolerate all these tactics?

I don’t know… just like how “black voters” are not a true homogenous voting block, neither are “MAGA” proponents all of the same ideology. There’s no rule book they all “abide” by. It’s a spectrum of ridiculous people.

Uh… Donald Trump has been acting very un-American for a long time. None of his followers are patriots to the country for the values it actually stands for.

I think the point I’m trying to make here is that if we, as a people, decide to hold all people accountable to the same standards (especially those meant to represent us), then unchecked power like this would not continue. The Epstein files are an easy way to convict Trump for acts he most likely has done. We simply have to hold him to it.

As anti-fascists are against fascists, and he says that they are against him, then he implies without doubt that he identifies as a fascist.

While media attention is often focused on actors acquiescing to Trump’s demands, in the streets the popular protest movement continues to push back against the administration with notable persistence over time.
