Yeah I’ve still got my headsets from boxes with Skype For Business branding that have “Compatible with Microsoft Lync” stickers on them.

It’s probably closer in UI to Skype from the 2000s that the “real” Skype never really recaptured. Not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing.

My org used Skype For Business and it worked remarkably well. Much more lightweight, though somehow still a little less responsive than it should have been.

It has that “it just works” factor for video calling, whereas Teams almost needs a fucking checklist to rattle through if someone’s audio or video feed isn’t working.

These days, it seems that anything over 30 is… suboptimal, and only single digit pingtimes are good enough for competitive non-LAN play.

That said, before multiplayer was centralised, you checked the server pingtime before joining the server. Private servers seem to be a dying breed now.

You’re absolutely correct in as much that most European terrorist attacks start with a blunt force mass-casualty attack, and move on to a low-sophistication phase such as knives or swords, with some sort of improvised explosive endgame.

In North America though, it’s not really an attack pattern that is commonplace - likely due to the high availability of conventional firearms making it easier to start and continue a mass casualty attack.

I suppose the line is drawn wherever it would become reasonable to assume that the driver was going to present a lethal threat to others in the vicinity after leaving the vehicle. I’m not familiar with this case in particular, but it’s going to be a tough one to justify if there’s no ongoing threat to the people in the area being presented.
