So you’re saying EVs are bad for the environment in general, or is it only when they’re produced by a particular person?

But that’s basically what they said. They accused Elon of being in favor or tariffs because it keeps his Chinese competition at bay. Which sorta implies that buying Chinese would be the smart thing to do, regardless of ethical concerns.

Elon mainly makes money from selling electric vehicles, doesn’t he?

Electric vehicles are sold as a climate-friendly alternative to internal combustion engines.

If Trump is vehemently anti-EV and pro-ICE, what the hell does Elon have to gain from supporting him? He’s a capitalist after all, isn’t he? Why would he throw away his life’s work on supporting the one candidate who promises to ruin his entire business model?

How does Elon profit from that?

So in order to combat Trump’s lack of interest in reducing fossil fuel use, the solution is to destroy the most popular brand of electric cars, because the owner is of said electric car brand is helping Trump increase fossil fuel use, thus actively shooting himself in the foot.

Make it make sense.

Forget climate change, have you considered the amount of toxic chemicals released into the atmosphere by burning down even one of these vehicles?

While I’m not entirely convinced that Trunky is the best choice of names, I do agree with your overall reasoning. Mastodon was always an awkward choice for a name and probably hurt adoption quite a bit, despite all the cute elephant cartoons people ended up making. Even Pleroma (an alternative server implementation compatible with ActivityPub) sounds cooler than Mastodon, despite also being three syllables long.

I see you haven’t read the article either, because otherwise you’d know that it doesn’t even answer the question directly, but instead goes to great lengths theorizing about every possible outcome, no matter how unlikely it is.
