  • Discipline is a core tenant of righteous hatred. I feel no enmity for anyone of French descent. I just hate the French as a concept. Same for the British, the Dutch, Spaniards, Belgians, Germans, Russians, Israelis, Chineses, etc etc all the way down the list of opressors both historic and modern. While yes, a nice little Thanos snap of all those evil peoples would leave the world massively underpopulated, I have faith that the desirables that are left would figure out repopulation no problem.

  • Optimistic of you to believe that humans learn from mistakes. Id thought we’d all come to the conclusion that colonizing ethnostates were bad, but Israel didn’t seem to get the memo. I thought we were done with nazi appeasement but then we have Jill and Joe old money taking nice pictures with the dictator elect. I even thought once upon a time that electric cars might make a dent in the fight for the climate, but then I saw what a lithium mine looks like. Nothing matters to humanity except how greedy they can be without being rejected from society at large.

  • Honestly fuck federal workers as a whole. I spent 6 months working under the USCG through DHS and every single last civilian worker was either a nepotism hire, married to a service member and got handed the job, outright incompetent, or some combination of the 3. Trying to get in touch with ANYONE from HR was a 2 week wait minimum to answer the most basic questions, and it’s a coin flip whether the answer you got was even relevant to what you originally asked. I have never worked with a lazier bunch of entitled shitbags as I have in federal employment.

They deserve every bad thing happening and more.

  • Actually the power of executive orders are very broad, and as of 2024, are beyond any limits of law. Official acts of a sitting president cannot be criminalized. He can absolutely order the FDA to immediately remove Marijuana from schedule 1 status, but he won’t. What carrot would Harris have to dangle in front of us at that point?

For context, yes, I’m a dem, and yes, I’m voting for Harris, but fuck me I’m tired of such transparent posturing.

  • Intellectual property as a concept is incompatible with the continued advancement of human knowledge. Before copyright and patenting, we still had trade secrets and sensitive information, and those things cost us insights into metalworking we are still slowly recovering to this day. We still can’t figure out how Roman’s stumbled upon some of their glass blowing breakthroughs, and we just recently figured out Roman concrete.

Capitalism didn’t invent greet, but it’s certainly allowed greed to flourish as a core precept of its design.

  • This is fine, and we thank you for your efforts.

What were talking about here is a rogue crotch spawn running around or under tables, occupied or not, and generally acting like they’re in their own living room rather than a shared community space.

Honestly IMO if you can keep them at the table, I can put up with the noise. Sure, it’s annoying, but so are kids. It’s a package deal. And everyone was a kid at one point in time and therefore has no excuse to complain too loudly. That’s reserved for when I have to drag a screeching rug rodent out from under my chair and haul it back to the absentee sperm and egg donors.

  • You’re glazing over a LOT of R&D accidents, not to mention the infrastructure that supports and facilitates nuclear power generation.

Yeah, the actual power generation plant is relatively small compared to a wind farm or solar plant, but you’re skipping the nuclear material refinement centers, the environmental challenges and risks posed by transportation and storage of nuclear material, and completely ignoring the storage of spent radioactive materials. Yucca mountain nuclear waste facility was constructed for a reason.

I’m all for nuclear power, but you need to get into the gritty if you’re going to make a good faith attempt at comparing it to other methods of power production. The entire process of producing fissionable materials is extremely expensive, power intensive, and uses incredibly toxic chemistry to get it done.

Fusion looks great on paper, but we’re still having a hell of a time figuring out how to capture energy from reactions that last millionths of a second.
