The OFAC sanctions do have quite a few lists, with one of them being “Russian Harmful Foreign Activities Sanctions”, so it could be fear of harmful actions and not just retaliation for the invasion
US laws prevented them from contributing while employed in a sanctioned company. Sucky situation for those individuals.
Weren’t Russian contributors (from very specific sanctioned companies) rejected from contributing because of US sanction laws and with Linux Foundation being HQ’d in the US?

It sounds like a very iffy thing to police. Since drawn stuff doesn’t have actual age, how do you determine it? Looks? Wouldn’t be great.
Even in cases when the content is fully artificial and there is no real victim depicted, such as Operation Cumberland, AI-generated CSAM still contributes to the objectification and sexualisation of children.
I get how fucking creepy and downright sickening this all feels, but I’m genuinely surprised that it’s illegal or criminal if there’s no actual children involved.
It mentions sexual extortion and that’s definitely something that should be illegal, same for spreading AI generated explicit stuff about real people without their concent, involving children or adults, but idk about the case mentioned here.
I’ve just soured on them from when there has been issues. Some security patches took a while because of the changed codebase. Good if that doesn’t happen anymore though.
Updates? The main downstream browsers received updates the same time as Firefox the same day and sometime the same hour
I’m not sure if something has changed, but due to changes they’ve made, at least before they couldn’t ship out the updates until they made it so that the updates actually affect their changed codebase. Which understandably causes delays. So there’d always be this delay with something being fixed on Firefox and then being fixed on the downstream projects.
I just don’t care for downstream projects on browsers, with software so critical I want to get the updates in as fast as possible. I know some of those mentioned in OP had issues with that in the past. And not much reason to anyway for me to switch, Firefox works perfectly fine for me, so there’s not much added benefit.
I use Firefox. I don’t like the changes but I don’t want to use any downstream browsers and I don’t think any of the not-downstream alternatives do better.

You used epub files with a Kindle, didn’t convert them or anything? I had no idea Kindles supported epubs, I know someone said they do jecause they emailed the files to their Kindle, but that was Amazon first converting them. I’m just finding Reddit threads saying epubs aren’t supported.
And how’s that working out so far?
