I have no idea about anything at all, but part of me wants to see this be the result of some predictable, stupid mistake, like a unit conversion error or something, and another part of me wants it to be something totally unpredictable, like some unique gravitational anomaly or some latent radiation of some kind, like, something with muons.

It takes too much time and resources. A lie runs halfway around the world before the truth laces up it’s shoes.

Manipulators and liars need to be stopped by a higher authority. I’m fine with that authority being civil liability, the criminal justice system obviously sucks at it. Let’s get serious and stop letting this stochastic terrorism go unpunished.

Lose your dad to Fox News conspiracies? Should be able to sue Fox News for child support. Lose your husband to a mass shooting caused by some deranged Trumper that thinks Paul Pelosi is coming to take our guns? Should be able to sue trump personally for wrongful death. It’s not like Fox and Trump don’t know what the consequences are.

Let juries be the arbiters.

This is not an area of law I stay up to date on, but that did not used to be the case. Is that a rather new development?

Last I knew most courts were holding that since customers are sharing this information with third parties (sharing with their phone companies, Apple and Google, Facebook, etc.), giving everything away anyway, most individuals have waived any claim to an expectation of privacy. The right to privacy is founded upon reasonable expectations. I did hear about some pushback on that, more recently, but not from the Court of Appeals from DC, which has jurisdiction over appeals taken from federal agencies, prior to the Supreme Court. I’d be grateful to be shown otherwise. About time, if true.

Search and seizure, the Fourth Amendment, only applies to State actors. The only exception is when a private entity is acting as an agent of the government, such as in the case of private prisons.

Congress needs to pass consumer protection laws aimed at privacy in the digital age. They haven’t updated this sort of thing I believe since 1996. It used to be legal for adult video stores to disclose the tapes people rented, but Congress passed a privacy law forbidding it when some journalists disclosed some of their rentals. The scandal had some cool name. I forgot what.

That’s possible. I think where the data goes astray is the severity of the tornado. Like in other words, I bet tornadoes are hitting schools all the time but it’s hardly more than a strong wind.

Like just from a quick Google search, there are about 1,200 tornadoes a year in the United States. And there have been days that have had record tornadoes of like 100 tornadoes per day. And I know, at least as of a few years ago, there were quite a few areas of the country where there are huge gaps in radar coverage.

It’s just that it’s not really anyone’s job to count how many schools get hit by tornadoes. It’s kind of like how with dog bites, it’s not anyone’s job to record the breed, so the data ends up being a total crap shootn and nobody really has any idea.

Edit: why is this so unpopular? It will only be when Americans are forced to see the consequences of their votes that they actually confront them. Emmett Till’s mother made sure the photos of his bashed in face were on the front page of the paper.
