I think there is a big misconception that the main use of a VPN is piracy when that is really only true when in a community of pirates. There are many legit uses for one as well.

For example, while VPNs are generally not a great tool for anonymity they can be a useful tool for privacy. One of the side effects of not trusting your ISP (or better put trusting your VPN over your ISP) with your data is it also makes it easier to torrent.

Its this relationship of trust that makes choosing a respected VPN (such as Mullvad, IVPN, or Proton) important over just choosing the cheapest provider with port forwarding.

Mullvad is top tier if you want a VPN with ethics. Its just OP doesn’t seem like that what their looking for.

I usually have 4 torrentleech invites that go to waste every month, hmu if you want one. All I ask is you hit n run.

If all you care about is torrenting, there are tons of shitty cheap vpns you can use.

Really all you need is one that supports port forwarding.

This is just not true for a multitude of reasons.

The obvious being that most other custom ROMs are not actually degoogled (ie proprietary blobs, still communicating with google) and/or they try to do it in ways that provide no privacy benefit such as replacing google with MicroG which has the exact same issues (ie privelged access to your phone).

The majority of these custom ROMs break any semblence of their security model (rooting, not locking the bootloader etc) to bring these privacy measures, which makes them almost moot in and of itself.

Also purely focusing on removing yourself from Google (especially while ignoring all of AOSP, and to an extent Android in general, is Google centric) when there are tons of other large data gatherers (many of them with far less recognizable brands) that your probably ignoring is useless.

I’m not sure why its so hard for you and OP to understand that creating a list of alternatives, where you cross off a working alternative, is blatantly inaccurate. “But its in France” is a weak excuse at best. The API has been mostly worked around. stremio, the major addons, rdt, and zurg works.

RD still works and there are multiple other debrids out there if you prefer stremio.

If you are fine just deleting stuff after watching instead of hoarding you can save in storage and management costs if you go the self hosted route. Also its a lot cheaper to host if your willing to watch at say 1080p then 4k.
