I just built a new machine, for a time I’ll try some Steam on Linux. For the latest version of Ubuntu and an Intel 570. No idea what I’m doing, lol. (Normally just use Linux server).

This thread shows that a whole bunch of people need to start taking online education courses. Getting back your algebra skills, some science perhaps, communication, history, etc.
I don’t know where you can get a proper education for that after grade school, but I see Brilliant.org advertised a lot.
Potentially, I don’t exactly know all the rights owners.
But just looking at the roster, I’d assume Arya Stark might be the most complicated. While HBO falls under WB, unsure if ol’ George signed away all rights to the character. And there’s always future deals too, since rights holders can change hands.
I would venture to guess it’s to avoid potential licensing issues that could arise down the road that they don’t want to deal with.
You can trust when I say, if it wasn’t so well known that educators get the raw deal right now, there would be way more teachers. I for one, thought about being a teacher and still do. But the terrible pay, the lack of funding… really detured me and I’m sure a bunch of folks away. I know people who actively suggest people away from going into teaching, because they don’t want to see the person just struggle and watch their passion die.
It’s not a problem of finding the supply (teachers), it’s about creating the demand (way better pay and working conditions)
I originally wasn’t going to get it. I saw the Persona style combat menu and RPG… I have limited time to play games so I have to be picky.
I caught someone playing it… oh yeah, bought the game right away. The writing is amazing, and there’s no “grind” you often find with many of the JRPG-style games
Maybe it was supposed to be 100 doll hairs… common mistake.
The problem, though, is a lack of prioritization in education, especially in the US. It’s a constant: more kids, fewer teachers. Teachers also get paid very little for what they deal with. Many teachers end up having to spend their own money to buy supplies the kids need. Meanwhile, my hometown has had 2 multi-million dollar embezzlement scandals that I know of. There was a news story a few years ago where the education board was making boatloads of cash, and teachers got jack (I can’t find the article, but I think it was during the pandemic).
Most schools when I was a teenager, would gladly buy up new football gear, a new coach bus (because the one from a couple years ago is just, not flashy anymore) but other departments can’t get new books (I remember using books from the late 80s… and it wasn’t the 80s), supplies, equipment, larger school buildings, more teachers, etc.
A teacher having even 20 kids is too many. We need more teachers, we need to prioritize education funding and standards. We don’t need AI.
I’ve lost count the number of times where I try to find something in SO, and it’s just someone posting the exact same example code as the answer. Or someone suggesting you just google it. Then I ask ChatGPT… and I get an answer.
Same, I’m happy to wait for Denuvo to be removed, for the game patches to come out, and Nvidia to fucking fix their god damn drivers. Plus side, I’ll pay a reasonable price for the game when I buy it.
While I’ve not taken them, though I’ve thought about it, I’ve met people who have. It’s shocking how well those drugs work. Both of them were super happy with the results and could probably be sales reps, to be honest. One was even proud to share her before photo, because she wanted to drive home just how well it worked. No one believed her until she showed the photos.
Here’s hoping Pokemon and Nintendo see disappointing sales. Everytime someone brings up Pokemon, bring up Palworld and how massive of a dick the Pokemon Company/Nintendo was. When people talk about the Switch 2, they bring up all the lawsuits Nintendo brought up on fans, all the YouTubers that dealt with issues because suing people, I’d assume, is Nintendo’s main income source at this point…
Ok, so re-install Steam! 😆 Pretty sure what I got was Snap. I was presented an App installer thing that kinda reminded me of the Microsoft Store (except, way less laggy). I think I remember seeing the word Snap.
Is there a way to verify that I have the right drivers for the video card? When it comes to GUI, I have a very Windows mindset, where I need to install the proper drivers, else I get the basic “well it works” drivers which aren’t good for gaming.
