You… you know sentencing someone to 30 seconds isn’t a thing, right?

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Should Salesforce's Tableau Be Granted a Patent On 'Visualizing Hierarchical Data'?English
1·2 months agoThat’s not corporate PR, I’ve been a Tableau developer for many years. If you’re trying to analyze data or build a visualization to drop into a PowerPoint report the standalone version will do it, free. If you want to host a report for multiple people to use you need to purchase a server installation. You use the exact same Desktop application to make the report, you just don’t have a server to host the report on.
I have a laundry list of things I don’t like about Tableau or Salesforce, but the fact that they charge for an enterprise installation isn’t one of them because duh doy, of course they do. The patent is bullshit, we already established that, but they’re an enterprise oriented company, mf’ers aren’t setting up a Tableau server for their family to share power usage reports to show them the need to turn lights off when they leave a room…

131·2 months agoPirate… Tableau? Which is either free for individual use or an enterprise level reporting platform? Don’t get me wrong this patent is hilariously bullshit but there is nothing to pirate.

News@lemmy.world•Conor McGregor loses civil rape case appeal
8·4 months agoIn most jurisdictions you have 2 kinds of courts, criminal and civil. Criminal is the government accusing a person or entity of breaking a law and saying they should be punished (fines, confinement, death, etc). Civil is a person or entity accusing another person or entity of harming them in some way and saying they should be punished with a fine. Both trials can technically happen at the same time but they tend to avoid doing that for various reasons.

I mean, sentencing guidelines, amongst other things.
