He intentionally walked in front of her car while drawing his weapon to fire. Non hesitation, carrying a cell phone and gun and still wasn’t enough to cause anything but a stumble. He called her a fucking bitch and casually walked away.
This was murder, cold blooded, intentional and you are an asshole. Go find somewhere else to suck up to authority.

D’’oh, meant to paste a quote, must have had a url in my clipboard. Thanks for the heads up.

You know, I haven’t really thought about it much, but now that you mention it, explains a whole hell of a lot that I’ve observed. I live in a fairly well off suburb that just lousy with chuds; let’s just say, I’ve observed this pattern a-plenty.
The good news is, at least from what I’ve seen, their children are growing up better than them. I can’t help but wonder how the impact of having that mindset while raising biracial children plays out in the long term. Guessing a lot more kids take the path so many of this generation has and cuts off their awful parents.

I mean, I had an uncle who was a good guy. He ended up quitting the force and bought a boat to sail around the world. He was a decent one.
There are always outliers, so I have no doubt there are some decent folks who joined to make an actual difference. There might even be a few who managed to hold onto that drive. But they are part of a corrupt system, peered with power hungry morons. So I have no compunction saying that all cops are bastards.
Every group has outliers, it’s the sycophants who will always try to point out the minuscule good in the sea of evil as a means to whitewash the black stains. We aren’t stupid, we know that acab doesn’t mean every single cop walks I lockstep, it’s an observation of the system as a whole.

Just like all generalizations, there are of course exceptions. But I’m still not giving any of them the benefit of the doubt, cops are an enemy as far as I’m concenered.

it’s because the police support ice. acab

The point isn’t these specific “friends”, the point is, these are what I would consider normal, average people. These are coworkers, some of who I know to be otherwise good and rational people. I honestly would not think that normal people would react with such deference to authority.
Of course this will inform every interaction I have with them from here, but again, the point is, these folks represent the person next to you in line at the grocery store, the person you wave through traffic at a stop sign, the person delivering your amazon packages.

I disagree, it’s not just a conserviative problem; there’s an authoritarian problem that straddles both sides. I think the left is less susceptible to it, but it’s there. I know plenty of “lliberals” who accept things uncritically as well, and plenty who are perfectly happy submitting to any authority.
I have “liberal” relatives who argue to this day that it’s all just politics, and that biden was worse because he forced masks.

again, these are co-workers, and this was the first indication I got from them about this sort of opinion. I’m not besties with these people, but do need to professionally interact with them.
The point is more that this is in idication of how typical americans feel these days. These are as ‘normal’ of people as I know; all my friends run in lefty circles and are well informed, so not typical american normies. I was just taken aback that otherwise normal, functional people could see things that way. I shouldn’t be surprised, just the week prior I heard so many people accept that fucking bullshit daycare story without a moment’s critical thought about it. It doesn’t matter that the centers accused in the video have been exonerated, it doesn’t matter that there has been ongoing investigations and prosecutions as a result. People hear something that triggers them and they just shut off their brain.
That’s what we’re against, I don’t even think the assholes doing this are the biggest problem we have, I think the biggest issue is the apathaty and stupidity of the masses.

I did, not sure how many minds I changed. https://awful.systems/post/6867430/9998651

These are work friends, so can’t get away from them. I am working on finding a new job though.

I argued very forcefully against everythign they had to say; I even got an apology from one of them, but I don’t think I ultimately changed any minds. It’s just so much easier for people to believe that the victims are at fault, it lets them feel superior, safe, etc.
I have not brought any of this up with my kids, but my 5th grader came home in tears yesterday because he’s afraid of ICE now. This is not ok. Our government is terrorizing it’s citizens and most people seem to love the fear.

I was out with some casual friends last night, the topic of the shooting came up. I was sickened listening to them talking about how she was at fault for putting herself in harms way, how she was asking for it by trying to run down law enforcement who are “just doing their job.”
We’re completely fucked, most of the public just laps up whatever bullshit they are fed and do not spend one second critically thinking about anything. They just accept that 2000 masked and armed federal agents decending on our neighborhoods and shooting people in the fucking face is a normal thing and they save their anger for the people they are crushing under their boots.
For maga, plastic surgery is virtue signaling. Since they have the money to spend on “looking their best” they do so in the most visible way since money is morality to these fucks.
