A third round of “No Kings” protests is planned this spring, with organizers saying they’ll be the largest demonstrations yet across the United States. Previous protests have drawn millions of people who took to the streets to oppose what they describe as authoritarianism under President Donald Trump.

Edit: this article kind of sucks. Check https://www.fiftyfifty.one/ for some events. I’m sure there are local organizers in whatever area you are in if you search for them. Listed upcoming events on fiftyfifty.one: January 30th: National Shutdown January 31st: ICE Out of Everywhere February 17th: Impeach, Convict, Remove, Defund March 28th: No Kings

Thanks mushroommunk for the extra info and potter297 for calling out the garbage article.

Organizers said they expect even greater numbers on March 28 in the wake of Trump’s immigration crackdown in Minneapolis, where violent clashes have led to the death of two people.

There is a nationwide general strike this Friday. Not fucking 2 months out.

Because I think people will see nothing is happening because of it, and stop paying attention to that event.

I don’t think there is a general strike that succeeds in this country without mass organization of militarized labor. They have already proven they will kidnap or kill you for defying them. What do you think their response will be towards the profits being threatened?

It will be to disrupt and destroy that movement with state violence before it starts.

We can’t expect a one day or even a once a week strike to be the end. It would only be the start. Because when these strikes do not result in progress; do not feel loss. Do not accept a minor retreat of our enemy as a victory either. If we want real change then these strikes will move into armed occupation of datacenters, warehouses, and eventually the militarized strongholds of ICE. Because that is where their retaliation to strikes with violence will force anyone willing to stand up to them.

Forgive my jaded ignorance, but what do the peaceful protests actually accomplish? The Trump administration doesn’t care and dismisses the protestors as whiny or paid actors. It feels as though they serve as an outlet for the frustrations of the people without receiving any concessions in return. It’s one step above “vote away the fascism”.

As they say, if it actually changed anything, it would be illegal.
