Summary

China executed two men involved in separate mass killings in November 2024.

Fan Weiqu, 62, killed 35 and injured 45 in a car-ramming attack in Zhuhai, motivated by frustration over his divorce.

Days later, Xu Jiajin, 21, fatally stabbed 8 and injured 17 at a vocational school in Wuxi after failing exams and struggling with low pay.

Analysts link rising “revenge on society” attacks to economic struggles and social discontent.

I mean, back when China was a monarchy, they could just execute people on the same day as the alleged crime was committed, and also all your close relatives were executed too, if your crime was in any ways political.

So modern China is just another time period in the dynastic cycle, and it’s (in my opinion) less shitty than it used to be. You used to just lose your head if you criticize the monarch, nowadays, when you criticize the Paramount Leader, at least you can just do a (mandatory) apology and, depending on the severity, maybe have to go through “re-education”, and then they let you go.

Well it’s a dictatorship so it’s not the law that was quick, but the need to show a “strong” response to dissent.

Edit: I am of course not condoning random killing.

I’m almost surprised it took so long. They probably timed it to have maximum impact. If they really want to get rid of someone, they’ll lock them away or shoot them at the side of a street immediately without a trial.

Forced disappearance and censorships of such acts is what they do to political people so they don’t become a martyr.

These are mass murderers so there would be zero sympathy from the people, so its very safe to just execute and announce it to the public and use the fear of death to “maintain order”
