Trump announced the decision in a post on his Truth Social account on Sunday as millions of TikTok users in the U.S. awoke to discover they could no longer access the TikTok app or platform.

Just let Trump decide everything.” I did not really know about the “fines provision”, but a mix of PR stunt, and clarity on being scot free, can still have some political basis. There will now be politics about Trump being pro Chinese disinformation, while social media users are grateful to not be banned, and even if that is slam dunk politics in congress, it doesn’t actually play for the “fascist side” on this issue.
All Trump’s order does is protect TikTok from the fines and liability. If Biden didn’t intend to enforce, he could’ve done the same. He didn’t.
