The Founding Fathers literally wrote about this exact kind of shit in the Declaration of Independence. Among the grievances they listed against King George:

For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world:

For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent:

For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury:

For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences:

One of the grievances was that for certain offenses, American colonists weren’t tried in courts located in the colonies, where they had support systems and would face a jury of their peers. Instead people, many of whom had never even been to England, would be shoved on a boat, sailed months across the sea, and then face trial in London.

Seriously, go through the Declaration of Independence and its list of grievances against King George. Trump has flagrantly violated the majority of them.

Grievance 10: “He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people and eat out their substance.”

        That is ICE.

This is honestly the first time I’ve ever been grateful for the Third Amendment (barring quartering of soldiers in private homes) in my entire life.

Not that they won’t just ignore it if/when they need to.

You forgot some of the highlights, and critically, one of the biggest reasons: The king didn’t allow colonists to do a full genocide of indigenous peoples.

Hence the declaration that no movement past the Appalachians was allowed.

Try to avoid bean soup discourse. It’s not productive. Yes, there are other grievances listed in the Declaration, some more important than the ones I listed. But they’re not relevant to the topic at hand. No need to derail a conversation to switch to a completely different issue

Maybe when enough spouses have been deported to Africa, and enough farmers have committed suicide, these bigoted jackanapes might finally start to glimpse what is happening.

The forefathers who…owned slaves? Let’s be real here I’m sure they would be questioning why they aren’t just being enslaved here, the forefathers were all violent racist old white dudes who were pissed they could not get super rich by skirting taxes from the British. Let’s not act like they are some beacon of morality and freedom when they were not.
