Fair point. But I just believe it goes to show that more websites need to be available on the darknet. Not because it’s a scary or bad place to be, but because it can’t be censored. Not nearly as easily, anyway. Top level domains can very easily be seized by the domain registrar or ICANN, etc. But since onion domains use keys, it’s impossible to seize them without seizing the server they run on.
The vast majority of people are woefully ill-prepared for an adversarial internet.
Torproject.org. There’s absolutely no way to censor the entire internet, short of entirely disconnecting the internet.

Also, why is it that different things enter the public domain at different times? For example, I learned of a movie from like the 1970s called The Last Man on Earth that is public domain, or at least I’m guessing it’s public domain, and yet it’s from the 1970s, where this is talking about stuff from 1929. I obviously know some stuff is made and released immediately into the public domain, such as open source software, etc. But I wouldn’t figure a movie would be like that.
I know that it’s important to get things into the public domain, but I feel apathetic about this as I have no interest in works this old. Music of this era is extremely low quality and so are films, etc. It’s like, okay, whatever, I guess.
Maybe you did just get a really good micro USB cable because I spend less than $10 on a Type-C cable and am able to use it for years. And as I said, I’ve never had one break.
That’s weird. I’ve actually had the exact opposite experience as I have never had a USB Type-C cable fail on me at all. And yet I had many, many micro USB cables where the pins at the very end got bent out of shape and would not stay in the port any longer.
I used to live in the middle of bumfuck nowhere. And I believe we had dial up until 2010. I specifically remember our first Wi-Fi router being an 802.11G Belkin 54G router. And our first high-speed internet was 1.5mbps fiber. We upgraded from 1.5mbps to 3mbps and then to 7mbps by the time I moved out. Because that was my childhood home. I can also remember that at that time, I thought our school internet was super fast. And yet we were sharing a T1 line for the entire school. But it was still way faster than the dial up I had at home.
Surprise Santa had time to stop for that. But talk about one lucky guy.
I think what we will get out of all this virtual reality research is good augmented reality devices because being able to look at something and pull up information on that thing or instructions on how to use it, etc. would be damn useful. I think I’ve heard of companies using AR and VR for training purposes, like how to work machines in a factory, etc. before you actually start using them.
I suspect that it’s one of those things that will happen at some point in the future, but we just don’t have the technology and equipment ready for it just yet. I figure it’s similar to AI research in like 2007 when they were able to put the computer on Jeopardy and have it compete against the contestants. It worked, but it wasn’t ready for mainstream usage at the time.
That would be my guess.
I’m really hoping now that they have an official app. It will help the growth some. You can tell it’s very early days for it, but I think it has a lot of potential.
I’m not surprised due to my involvement in the Monero community, at least some people I know from previous online chat rooms are there, but I don’t know anybody directly in person like from my day-to-day life that uses it.

I keep my money in Monero. That way, it’s me who has to be targeted instead of an institution. And if I fuck up and lose it, it’s my own damn fault.
