In China the digital boarding pass QR code changes every 30 seconds preventing screenshots or photos of it from being used. But as they’re currently implemented in the US it’s no different than paper.

The bigger issue is how bad airline apps handle anything even slightly out of the ordinary like itineraries including codeshare segments or just randomly have server problems. I fly 50+ times a year and am able to actually use the digital boarding pass only ~95% of the time.

WSL is sufficient for many Windows users and developers without privacy concerns motivating them to switch to a full Linux distro.

If Microsoft really wants people to switch to Windows 11 they need to retain many of the already few remaining customization options from Windows 10. Trackpad gesture support is worse, the only useful button in the new right click menu is the show more one which brings back the old menu but requires an extra click, and the file explore somehow got even more buggy. I hate every time I need to interact with a computer using Windows 11.

Luckily there’s been an initiative within my company recently to support Linux, so I’m hoping that all the network related issues are fully worked out before Windows 11 is forced on us so I can just jump ship to Ubuntu.

Surprisingly asking about Jack Ma’s resignation didn’t stop it, it mentioned that he was allegedly forced to step down for political reasons. When I probed further on what these were it didn’t error but did randomly switch to Chinese at one point in the answer.

Unfortunately the next administration will likely agree with the ISPs on this. To an extent T-Mobile and Verizon 5G home internet has genuinely shaken up the industry. As long as low latency isn’t a requirement of yours they’re quite good. For me they offer higher upload speeds than my local ISP monopoly with similar download speeds.

More than likely he’d just go the direction of Russia/Putin and run behind a candidate he endorses but then effectively take control after the puppet candidate wins.

I don’t know what’s up with the algorithm pushing these lately. If it’s a video with 4 views from a channel with no subscribers I’m probably not interested in it. Sometimes they have a good thumbnail/title so I give them a chance but 9/10 times it’s terrible. Also often extremely right wing for whatever reason.

I thought that without blocking cookies the tracking is still active, even if you’re not being served ads from them. In those same LinkedIn privacy settings you’re automatically opted into having your data used to train AI models.

LinkedIn has some of the most obfuscated and complex ad targeting settings I’ve encountered. There needs to be a retirement to have a one click solution to disable ad personalization.

And you can repair them without needing to shut down a whole railway. All these projects to put solar panels in novel places are totally pointless and solving a problem that doesn’t exist.

This is why everything apps are so popular in many parts of the world. Using a mini-app from the internet running within another app is far preferable to downloading a whole app you may never need to use again. The way they do it in China is so seamless even if you’ve never visited the business before. There’s never any special account creation or entering of payment information.

Obviously it’s pretty terrible in terms of user privacy since the everything app has basically unchecked access to all of your personal information and habits, but the convenience is incredible and feels decades ahead of how apps work in the US.

An important note is that I live in Texas and like half of the vehicles on the road are pickup trucks. I also see the occasional Hummer EV abomination.

I’ve also seen several of the Silverado EV recently. GM bet the hardest on EVs of any US manufacturer by far and I’m really hopeful the new bolt will significantly undercut the rest of the market to the point it makes smaller cars more common. The trend of massive vehicles has to end, the manufacturers like the high margins on them but it’s unsafe and unaffordable for most Americans. And it adds pressure to buy one just to be able to be seen by other drivers in their massive SUVs/trucks.

Not sure, this was 2 weeks ago. Apparently the season was somewhat earlier than normal this year. The C&O Canal trail is the place to go though.

I finally managed to try pawpaws this year. It was quite nice in Maryland and they’re all over along riverbanks. They had nearly identical taste and texture to the sweetsops available throughout Asia, just with larger seeds. I have no idea why they’re not widely available, the flavor is sweet and mild like most fruits that are popular in the US.
